Minnesota State wins its first NSIC Women's Golf Championship

MORTON, Minn. – Minnesota State won its first NSIC Women's Golf Championship in convincing fashion on Sunday as the Mavericks finished the 54-hole tournament with a team total 952, defeating the nine-time defending champions of Augustana (985) by 33 strokes. The championship, which was played at Dacotah Ridge Golf Club in Morton, Minnesota had 36-holes played on Friday and the final 18-holes played on Sunday. The Mavericks had its four top golfers all finish in the top ten, including three of the top four finishers. 

Minnesota State’s Abbe Partington earned individual medalist honors as she finished at 235, 19-over-par for the championship.  Partington shot rounds of 77-81-77 to win by one stroke over teammate Alissa Carlson (75-81-80=236).  Augustana's Hannah Hankinson (82-77-78=237) was two stroke back while MSU's Maddy Messin (78-82-78=238) was fourth.  Concordia-St. Paul's Erika Olson (78-78-84=240) and Minot State's Miriam Dumes (80-80-80=240) tied for fifth place.  All-six student-athletes earned NSIC All-Tournament honors for finishing in the top five.

Minnesota State has now earned an automaticbid to the NCAA Central Super Regional which will be played at Muskogee Country Club in Muskogee, Oklahoma, hosted by Northeastern State University on May 6-8.
