Wayne, Neb. - The University of Mary won its fourth straight NSIC Women's Cross Country Championship as the Marauders scored 21 teams points after placing five runners in the top seven. Leading the way for the Marauders was Ida Narbuvoll, who covered the 6,000-meter course in a time of 20:55.95 to win by over 1:25. The Marauders had runners place, first, second, fifth, sixth and seven to dominate the field.
Finishing second was UMary’s Kayla Ogle with a time of 22:20.10 as the freshman earned NSIC Newcomer of the Year honors as she was the top finisher competing in their first year of NSIC competition.
Augustana had the next two finishers in Claire Boersma and Cait Savey. The Vikings finished second with 37 points.
The Marauders’ Head Dennis Newell was voted by his peers as the NSIC Coach of Year for the second straight season.
The top ten finishers are named All-NSIC First Team while finishers 11-20 earn All-NSIC Second Team honors.
Next action for NSIC Cross Country will be at the NCAA Regional, which will take place in Joplin, Missouri on Saturday, Nov. 9th. The NCAA DII National Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, November 23 at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento, California.
