ST. PAUL, Minn. - Three record fell on the women's side on day one of the NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championship held at Sea Foam Stadium, hosted by Concordia University, St. Paul. After seven scored events, Winona State leads in the team standings with 53 points followed by defending champions of Minnesota State with 48 points while Augustana is in third with 38 points.
In the prelims of women’s 100m hurdles Tonie Pandohie of the University of Mary ran 13.42 to break the 2013 record set by UMary’s Janet Johnson (13.63).
In the prelims of the women’s 400m Winona State’s Megan Seidl ran a 54.40 to break the 2010 record of 54.99 set by Kristi Buerkle of Bemidji State.
The final record of the day went to Michaela Dendginer of Wayne State in the hammer throw. She won the event with a heave of 63.54-meters (208-5) to surpass the 2013 mark of 62.03 set by Wayne State’s Carly Fehringer.
The top three finishers in each event and the top two relay teams are named to the NSIC Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference team. NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Athletes and Coach of the Year will be announced next week at NorthernSun.org.
The NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championship resumes Saturday morning at 11 a.m. with field events followed by track finals beginning at 1 p.m.
