NSIC Athletes of the Week

NSIC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Josh Young
Distance, Jr., Moorhead, Minn. / Moorhead HS
MSU Moorhead
- Ran two NCAA provisional qualifying times in California
- Ran a 3:46.46 in the 1500m at the Bryan Clay Classic to finish 47th out of 269 runners
- His 1500m time was the ninth fastest in NCAA Division II this season
- In the 800m run at the Beach Invitational, ran a personal-best time of 1:52.07
- His 800m time tops the NSIC this season and ranks 26th best in the nation

- Recorded an automatic qualifying mark in the men’s pole vault at the Beach Invitational
- Cleared 17-0.75 (5.20m) to finish seventh in the field of DI athletes
- The height ranks second in NCAA Division II and breaks his own USF record

- Josh Barrows took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles at the Jim Duncan Invite with a season’s best time of 53.50, good for the top mark in the NSIC - Alec Kray took third in the 5,000-meters at the Jim Duncan Invite with a PR time of 14:46.36, good for the top mark in the NSIC - Matt Pohlmann and Brody Jorenson went 1-2 in the pole vault at the Red Raider Open

- Benjamin Allen gave the men a record-setting performance in the 1500 meter run as he also improved on the previous best by more than two seconds. Allen's time of 3:53.66 surpassed Kyle Warren's record 3:55.95 set back in 2007. Allen also added an impressive third place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:55.11. - Antony Odera put up a pair of solid finishes in the jumps for the Golden Bears with a win in the triple jump as well as a fifth place result in the long jump. Odera cleared 43'9.00" in the triple jump and 21-8.75 in the long jump.

- Andrew Dubiel won the discus at the Blue Hawk with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark of 50.20 meters - Derek Myers set a school record in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:37.91 at the Bryan Clay Invite - Luxon Glor blazed his way to a time or 10.57 seconds in the 100 meter dash at the Cal State LA Twilight Meet. He also had an effort of 7.02 meters in the long jump to take second. - Other UMary winners at the Blue Hawk include Teegan Olson (800), Sven Dunkle (javelin), Josh Wulfekuhle (400 hurdles)

SAC relays, running a time of 30:25.43 which is best in NSIC and 11th-best in nation at that point - Brian Huber’s long jump of 23-2 at Beach Invite is fifth-best in NSIC; he also ran a 21.90 in 200 at Clay Invite, which is fourth-best in NSIC - Adam Hanson (400 hurdles), Devin Strack (triple jump) and Peter Bateman (hammer throw) won events at Cobber-Dragon Dual

Brown also tied for Hochstetler in the 110m hurdles - Trey Tiefenthaler notched the final top finish of the afternoon, winning the triple jump with a 13.15m jump - Adam Leach won the 1500m run, finishing in 4:11.93 - Zachary Ulmer tallied a new outdoor PR in the 800m in California with a time of 1:54.86 - Deshonn Brown jumped to a third place finish in the high jump from the Cal State Invite with a mark of 2.04m - Lucas Osowski threw 50.02m in the hammer from the Beach Invite, tallying the third time in his career over 50m

- The Northern State University track and field team hosted their annual NSU Twilight on Thursday, while six Wolves traveled to California for the Cal State Invite, Beach Invite, Bryan Clay Invite, and Mt. SAC Relays - The Wolves tallied 29 top-5 finishes from the Northern State Twilight, including seven event wins - The 4x400m relay team of Fletcher, Six, Brewer, and Wietgrefe won the race for the Wolves, finishing in 3:26.41

- Scott Greenman recorded an automatic qualifying mark in the men’s pole vault, clearing 5.20 meters (17-0.75), which ranks No. 2 in NCAA Division II and broke his own USF record - Teddy Frid broke the USF decathlon record and hit the NCAA provisional qualifying standard with 6.812 points at the California Invite - Steven Brown broke the USF 10k record by nearly 22 seconds, hitting the provisional standard with a 30:21.36 time at the Mt. SAC Relays - Mason Phillips hit the provisional standard in the men’s 1,500-meter run, missing the USF record by less than half a second at 3:49.33

-Sophomore thrower Josh Behning (Crystal Lake, Ill. / Prairie Ridge HS) led the field events for the Mustangs men's team, winning the discus with a toss of 47.77m. He also earned a third place finish in the shot put with a toss of 14.21m -Senior Alex Weis placed second in the shot put at 14.79m, while picking up a third place mark of 53.78m in the hammer -Senior sprinter Dallin Finley took home first place honors with a time of 10.84 in the 100 meters -Senior Austin LaFollette captured first place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 56.36.
