SMITHVILLE, Mo. - (Paradise Pointe – Par 72 – 6710 yards) – Winona State holds a one stroke lead over Minnesota State and St. Cloud State following the first round of the NSIC Men's Golf Championship, played at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Missouri.  The Warriors shot a 293 to sit at 5-over-par, while both SCSU and MSU shot 294.  Minot State is fourth at 297, just four strokes off the lead.

St. Cloud State’s David Scharenroch and Riley Duncanson sit atop the leaderboard as both shot rounds of 69 to sit at 3-under-par.  Scharenroch finished with seven birdies, two bogies and a double bogie while Duncanson was a little more consistent with his five birdies and two bogies.  Augustana’s Parker Klitzke and Minnesota State’s Ethan Kraus both sit a shot back at 70 as they finished at 2-over-par. 

The NSIC Men’s Golf Championship is scheduled to continue with round two on Friday at 9 a.m. with tee time starts. The final round is set for Saturday at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. The winner of the NSIC Men's Golf Championship will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Midwest/Central Region Tournament, played May 8-10 at Awarii Dunes in Axtell, Nebraska.  The NCAA Championships will be held May 22-26 at Reunion Resort/Watcon Course in Kissimmee, Florida.
