NSIC Athletes of the Week

NSIC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Myles Hunter
(Hurdles, Sr., Conyers, Ga. / Heritage HS)
Minnesota State

- Finished first in 60-meter hurdles with time of 7:99 at the Birdman Open
- The time is an NCAA provisional qualifying time and tenth best mark in division II this season
- Marks as the top time in the NSIC this season by a quarter second

Jagger Gran
(Sr., Pole Vault, Shoreview, Minn. / Mound View HS)

Sioux Falls
- Improved season-best pole vault mark with NCAA provisional qualifying clearance to win the SDSU Last Chance meet
- Cleared 5.12 meters (16-9.5) to stay sixth on the NCAA performance list
- Ranks third in the NSIC this year, only trailing two teammates on the conference performance list
- Has cleared five meters four times this season and gone over 16 feet in five different meets this year

- Anthony Huber took first in the shot put with a personal best toss of 53-09.25
- Huber's mark was also a provisional qualifier and the top mark in the NSIC this season
- Josh Barrows finished in 3rd at the Snowshoe Open in the 800-meters with a provisionally qualifying time of 1:53.22
- Paul Meloche took first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.37 at the SDSU Last Chance

Top Performer (s)
- The top finisher for the Golden Bears was Antony Odera as he took third in the long jump
- His distance of 22-5.75 put him just an inch and a half out of second and six inches behind first in the event
- Tyler Naumowicz joined Odera as a top-5 finisher as he wrapped up fifth in the 60 meter hurdles
- Naumowicz turned it on in the finals as he shaved off 0.15 seconds to move up from eighth in the prelims to fifth in the finals with a time of 8.73 seconds

-  CSP collected 11 top-10 finishes in the final tune-up before the NSIC Championships

- Sam Mackedanz and Fr. Shenley Allen placed 1-2 in the high jump
- Both cleared the bar at 2.03 meters to record NCAA provisional qualifying marks (they are tied for 37th in the country)
- Luxon Glor won the 60 in 6.96 seconds
- Dallas Horner won the long jump in 6.66 meters
- Tyrell Rosencranz won the triple jump in 13.96 meters after placing second in the long jump
- Two Marauders relays also finished atop the final results
- The quartet of Austin Lucero, Gabe Wylie, Josh Wulfekuhle and Teegan Olson claimed the 4 X 400 meter relay in 3:25.81
- The Distance Medley Relay squad of Jamison Dietrich, Adam Cebulla, Sam Wilke and Derek Myers were victorious in a time of 10:31.84

- Garret Schleis and Casey Reeves placed second (42-06.25) and fourth (40-06), respectively, in the triple jump
- Cody Sedbrook posted an NCAA II provisional qualifying time of 8:26.51 in the 3,000-meter run, good for fifth place, which was a lifetime best

- Joel Cartwright earned a personal best and topped runners from NCAA Division I, II and III to take the men’s 3000m in a time of 8:46.13
- Daniel Daffinrud picked up two top 5 finishes running a 7.13 in the final of the 60-meter dash to finish in third and raced to a time of 22.84 in the 200 for fifth
- Jacob Hatfield finished third overall in the weight throw with a personal best toss of 54-feet-6
Team Notes
- Minot State finished with 21 personal bests and nine season best combined with its men’s and women’s team
- MISU had 11 top 10 finishes on the day

- Itoitz Rodriguez placed third in the 400m dash from the tune-up, hitting the line at 48.23. His time moved him up to 22nd nationally
- Freshmen Kelson Brewer and Asher Wahl finished first and second in the 600m run
- Brewer notched a time of 1:26.87, followed by Wahl in 1:32.98
- Luke Wietgrefe finished fifth overall with a time of 1:22.28 from the Nebraska Tune-up

- From the SDSU Last Chance meet the NSU men notched 25 top-10 finishes, while adding another three from the Nebraska Tune-up
- 4x400m relay team of Rodriguez, Wietgrefe, Six, and Thomas won the event at the tune-up with a time of 3:21.43

- Billy Beseman broke the USF 1,000-meter record, winning the SDSU Last Chance title in 2:28.12, which ranks fourth in the NSIC this season
- Jagger Gran and Jacob Zebedee tied to win the SDSU Last Chance pole vault competition with provisional qualifying 5.12-meter (16 feet-9.50 inches) clearances
- Jase Kraft, Mason Phillips and Zach Lundberg recorded provisional times in the mile, placing third, fourth and sixth, respectively, at the CSM Joe Davies Classic
- NSIC leader Trey Furgeson won the MSU Birdman Open 600-meter run title
Team Notes
- Posted two USF all-time top 10 marks over the weekend, including another broken school record
- Five Different USF pole vaulters recorded provisional qualifying marks and the Cougars posted eight total national qualifying marks

- Junior Zach Jones won the long jump with a mark of 6.51m and won the triple jump finishing at 13.37m
- Jones also finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 22.88
- Senior  Alex Weis closed the meet with a victory in the shot put with a mark of 16.05m
- Weis also placed fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 16.52m
