NSIC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Courtney Crandall (Pole Vault, Sr., Rapid City, S.D. / Rapid City Central HS) - Sioux Falls
- Improved her nation-leading mark and broke the USF women’s pole vault record, winning her fourth event of the season at the Red Raider Open in Orange City, Iowa
- Crandall’s vault of 13-9.25 is a five inch improvement over her previous best
- Vault is the fifth highest all-time in Division II history
- Vault lead Division II by 4.25 inches and is an automatic qualifying mark
- Marks the second time this season Crandall has been named Field Athlete of the Week (4/12/16)
NSIC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Haley Kruger (Distance, Jr., Brandon, S.D. / Brandon Valley HS) - Minnesota State
- Placed second, and was the top Division II finisher, in the 800-meter run at the St. Olaf Mantiou Classic
- Kruger’s time of 2:11.56 ranks second in the NSIC and 21st in Division II
- Her time is an NCAA provisional qualifying time

Augustana
- Augustana competed at the Red Raider Open
Women’s Track
- Valerie Moos finished first in the women’s 100-meter dash with a time of 14.82
- This was the first time this season Moos has run the 100-meter dash
Women’s Field
- Calliann Brunswig finished first in the women’s long jump with a jump of 5.56 meters
- Colley Stoller came in second in the women’s triple jump with a jump of 10.88 meters
Bemidji State
- Bemidji State continued its outdoor season competing in NDSU Lyle Hokanson Classic
Women’s Track
- Sara Melom claimed the top finish for the Beavers with a 400-meter dash time of 1-minute, 1-second, good for a fifth place finish
-Phillie Bacon continued to improve in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as she broke her personal-best time at 12:07.43
- Freshman Christa Benson ran a 1:07.37 400-meter hurdle time for a personal-best
- Sarone Paulzine had a career-best 800-meter run time at 2:38.12 and a career-best 1,500-meter run time of 5:23.42. Amanda Anderson also set a personal-best 800-meter run time of 2:43.65
Women’s Field
- Samantha Velde owned the top finish for the Beavers as she placed in 17th out of 52 participants
- Velde’s throw of 151-feet, 6-inches was just a couple feet shy of her personal-best toss set last weekend
- Senior Chloe Miller set a personal-best long jump, leaping 16-5
- Thrower Samara Tobeck had a career-best shot put with a throw of 31-10
- Tuesday Bemidji State travels to Moorhead, Minn. to participate in the Cobber Twilight at Concordia College
Concordia-St. Paul
Women’s Track
- Wakpor Ighovojah won the 100m hurdles at the Carleton Relays
- Ighovojah’s time of 15.04 seconds was the top mark by just 0.05 seconds
- Ighovojah also added a seventh place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.33 seconds
- Ighovojah chipped in a 13th place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:03.30
Women’s Field
- Anna Ripke paced the field by a significant margin in the discus throw at the Carleton Relays
- Ripke‘s mark of 121-10 was over seven feet further than anyone else
University of Mary
- Competing at the Lyle Hokenson Classic in Fargo, N.D., the Marauders dominated the hurdles and won two titles with seven runner-up finishes
Women’s Track
- The Marauders finished 1-2-3 in the 100 meter hurdles as All-American Tonie Pandohie cleared the barriers in 14.35, followed by Molly McDonald (14.53) and Maria Bolibruch (14.54)
- Senior Josie Guptill placed second in the 400 meter hurdles (1:03.49) and freshman Julia Hammerschmidt was right behind in third (1:03.77)
- Kaycie Stewart earned the other first place honor for the Marauders when the sophomore from Corvallis, Montana, captured the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:00.19
- All-American Faith Kjelstrup was 2nd in the 100 meter dash (12.42) and also ran on the 2nd place 4x100 relay
- U-Mary placed second in both the 4x100 relay (47.55) and the 4x400
Women’s Field
- Freshman Kylie Pastian claimed second in the triple jump with an effort of 36-07.50
Minnesota Duluth
- Minnesota Duluth competed at the two-day Lyle Hokanson Classic
Women’s Track
- Erica Seidenkranz captured the 5,000-meter run title, coming in at 11:24.70
Women’s Field
- Elizabeth Brunner prevailed in the triple jump for the second time in four outdoor meets this spring, leaping 37-10
- UMD will be in St. Peter, Minn., Saturday, April 30 for the Drake Alternative Meet at Gustavus Adolphus
- A select number of the Bulldogs are also scheduled to compete in the Drake Relays, which being on Thursday, in Des Moines, Iowa
Minnesota State
Women’s Track
- Haley Kruger placed second, and was the top Division II finisher, in the 800-meter run at the Mantiou Classic
- Kruger’s time of 2:11.56 ranks second in the NSIC and 21st in Division II
Women’s Field
- Morgan Stampley placed first in the hammer throw at the Mantiou Classic with a toss of 174-5, which ranks 28th in Division II
MSU Moorhead
Women’s Track
- Emily Mammenga won the 3,000 meters at the Lyle Hokanson Classic on Saturday
- Mammenga finished with time of 10:29.38 to win the event by four seconds over South Dakota State’s Emily Berzonsky
Women’s Field:
- Mindy Kraft was third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:40.53
- MSUM’s 4x100 relay, which consisted of Ki’Arah Johnson, Judith Robinson, Katie Holzheimer and Caroline Jansen was third in 49.05
- MSUM will compete at the Cobber Twilight on Tuesday and also scheduled to send athletes to the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa
Minot State
- Minot State University finished with two runners up performances at the North Dakota State Lyle Hokanson Classic Saturday at Schlanser Track Complex
Women’s Track
- Samantha Huether finished in second, racing to a season-best time of 11 minutes, 33.84 seconds in the women’s steeplechase
- DelRay Audet finished fourth overall in the 400 hurdles with a season best 1:03.78 and helped both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams to season best times
- Newcomer Jamie Ayala earned PRs in both the 100 and 200 and was a member of the fourth-place 4x100 relay team that finished with a season best 49.20
Women’s Field:
- Amber Hunsaker had her string of four-straight javelin titles broken as she finished second overall to an NCAA Division I thrower in the event with a toss of 135-feet-6 and set a PR in the hammer throw
- The Beavers are off next week and will next compete at the Minnesota State University Moorhead Ron Masanz Open May 7
Northern State
- The Northern State University track and field team hosted their annual meet Friday from the Swisher Activities Complex
- The Wolves tallied a strong showing in both the running and field events with 25 top-5 finishes in the one day competition
Women’s Track
- Recording an event victory was Hanneke Oosterwegel in the 400m hurdles
- Oosterwegel finished in 1:03.28 on a very windy evening from Swisher
- Finally the 4x100m (Elizabeth Raecke, Hanneke Oosterwegel, Tayla Peterson, Toni-Ann Ingram) and the 4x400m (Haili Wimer, Elizabeth Raecke, Andrea Korvela, Hanneke Oosterwegel) won their respective relays
Women’s Field
- Gena Burley tallied the team’s first victory of the evening, winning the high jump. The senior cleared 1.60m
- The Wolves will return to action this Tuesday from the Concordia College Twilight meet
Sioux Falls
- Continuing a stellar season at the Red Raider Open this weekend, USF Women’s Track & Field set two new USF records
Women’s Track
- Tenley Schwartz won the women’s 10k on Friday night and Kylie Herlihy captured the women’s steeplechase title, narrowly missing a USF record
Women’s Field
- Courtney Crandall improved her nation-leading mark and broke the USF women’s pole vault record, winning her fourth event of the season
- Crandall’s 4.20-meter (13 feet-9.25 inches) mark is a 10 centimeter (5 inch) improvement over her previous best and also moves her into fifth all-time in Division II history
- Haley Hinseth had a big weekend for the Cougars, culminating in a record-breaking win in the women’s discus
- Hinseth won the event with a 43.26-meter (141-11) toss to set a new USF record and move to sixth in the NSIC
- The Cougars will split their squad this week, sending athletes to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, the Hillsdale College Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich., and the Drake Alternative meet in St. Peter, Minn.
Southwest Minnesota State
Women’s Track
- Hanna Palmeter recorded a pair of first place finishes at the Northwestern College (Iowa) Open last weekend
- Palmeter won the 800 meters out of 27 runners with a personal best time of 2:17.84
- Palmeter also won the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:15.42
St. Cloud State
-St. Cloud State competed on both days at the Lyle Hokanson Classic on April 22-23
Women’s Track
- Junior Patience Yalarati won the women’s long jump with her leap of 18-02.25 for second event win in the long jump this season
- Junior Jasmine Grant placed fourth in the 400m (58.87)
- On April 27, members of the women’s program will competed at the Tommy Twilight in St. Paul, Minnesota.
- From April 28-30, the team will spend representation to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
- Other members of both squads are also scheduled to travel and compete at the Drake Alternative in St. Peter, Minn. on April 30.
Upper Iowa
- UIU competed at the Dewey Allgood Invitational in Rolla, Missouri
Women’s Track
- Bethani Jacobsen finished the 3000-meter steeplechase in 13:08.69 to finish ninth and set the UIU record in that event
- Freshman Alyssa Weber would have also set the school record as she finished 11th in the steeplechase with a time of 13:32.61
Women’s Field
- Shay Lierman placed ninth in the javelin throw with a toss of 101-6
- UIU is scheduled for a couple of meets next week, the Kip Janvrin Invite in Indianola, Iowa on Apr. 28-29 and the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa on Apr. 29-30
Wayne State
Women’s Track
- Kelsey Dietrich placed 6th in the 100 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 15.21 seconds
- Dietrich ran a leg on the 4 x 400 meter relay that placed 3rd at the Jim Dutcher Invitational in Crete, Neb.
Women’s Field
- Kacie O’Connor won the women’s discus throw with a mark of 147-11 at the Northern State Twilight Meet in Aberdeen, S.D. on Friday
- The Wildcats will compete this week with the majority of the team at the MMC Invite in Yankton, SD on Wednesday, with also some athletes competing at the Drake Relays on Friday/Saturday, and a few at the Grandview Invitational on Friday in Des Moines as well.
Winona State
Women’s Track
- Megan Seidl won the 400m at the UW-L Esten Challenge in a NSIC leading time of 56.71 and anchored the Warrior’s winning 4x100 relay to a school record and provisional time of 46.90 seconds
Women’s Field
- Ashley Thooft won both the Discus (46.83m/153’ 8”) and Shot Put (13.70m/44’ 11.5”) at the UW-L Esten Challenge Friday night
- Thooft’s discus throw leads the NSIC and ranks her 13th in the NCAA II
