NSIC Media Relations
NSIC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
- Khadiya Hollingsworth (Jumps, Fr., Brookfield, Wis. / Brookfield East HS) - Minnesota State
- Placed first in the high jump at the Cal State LA Twilight with a leap of 5-8.75
- Leap was a personal best and provisionally qualifies for the NCAA Championships
- Height is currently tied for second highest in Division II this season
- Finished in third place at the Long Beach State Invitational after clearing 5-7
NSIC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Breanna Colbenson (Distance, Jr., Elmwood, Wis. / Spring Valley HS) - Minnesota Duluth
- Bettered the UMD 3,000-meter steeplechase record finishing in 10:23.31 at the Mt. SAC Relays
- Automatically qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships
- Placed second out of 34 runners in the Long Beach State Invitational’ s 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:53.17
- Ranks as the fourth fastest time in Division II this season

Augustana
-Competed at the Mt. Sac Relays, Sioux City Relays, Pacific Coast Invite, Bryan Clay Invitational and Long Beach State Invitational
Women’s Track
- Kayla Mescher provisionally qualified in the 400-meter hurdles at the Pacific Coast Invitational with a time of 1:01.25
- Mescher provisionally qualified in the 800-meter dash at the Bryan Clay Invitational with a time of 2:10.85
- Mescher also provisionally qualified in the 4x400-meter relays at the Bryan Clay Invitational with a time of 3:48.64
- Irene Almarcha provisionally qualified in the women’s 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.16
- Leah Seivert provisionally qualified in the women’s 10-000-meter run with a time of 34:50.77
Women’s Field
- Bree Woelber provisionally qualified in the Javelin with a throw of 44.45 meters at the Pacific Coast Invitational
-Olivia Montez Brown came in first in the women’s long jump with a jump of 5.89 meters
Bemidji State
- Bemidji State competed in its second meet of the outdoor season Saturday, participating in the Holst Invitational on the campus of Concordia University, St. Paul
Women’s Track
- The Beaver 4x100-meter relay squad led the team with a second place finish as Chloe Miller, Sara Melom, Nikki Anderson and Emeline Sevila owned a time of 49.72 seconds
- Senior sprinter Sara Melom set a personal-best time in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.70, good for a fourth place finish out of 38 competitors
Women’s Field
- Samantha Velde’s hammer throw of 153-10 was good for a sixth place finish out of 46 competitors to beat her previous career-best by over 25 feet
- Chloe Miller had a personal-best long jump mark of 16-2.25 to finish in 11th out of 26 participants
- Thrower Ciara Brewster finished in the top-10 in the shot put with a throw of 38-11.75
- The Beavers head to Fargo, N.D. next weekend to compete in the Lyle Hokanson Classic on the campus of North Dakota State University.
Concordia-St. Paul
Women’s Track
- Erika Shady had an impressive day on the women’s side as she collected one of the two top-5 individual performances for the team at the Holst Invitational
- Shady finished fifth in the 200m with a time of 25.41 seconds
- Shady helped the 4x100m relay team, along with Gloria Williams, Erica Young and Wakpor Ighovojah, to the team’s lone win on the day with a time of 49.34 seconds
Women’s Field
- Kalle Burney finished inside the top-five as she took home fourth by clearing 5-1 in the high jump at the Holst Invitational
University of Mary
The Marauders set two school records and posted five NCAA provisional qualifying times during the week
Women’s Track
- Alexis Zeis set a school record in the 5,000 meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Thursday in an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 16:38.16
- It was Zeis’ first race of the outdoor season and ranks 10th in the nation and is first in the NSIC
- Tonie-Ann Pandohie posted a provisional qualifying mark with a clocking of 14.01 in the 100 meter hurdles at the Bryan Clay
- Senior Josie Guptill cleared the 400 meter barriers in a provisional qualifying time of 1:02.20
- Julia Hammerschmidt posted a provisional qualifying time of 1:01.70 in the 400 meter hurdles at the Beach Invitational
Women’s Field
- Davina Carr set a school pole vault record at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday
- The All-American cleared the bar at 12-10 to provisionally qualify for the NCAA outdoor championships as she is seventh in the country
Minnesota Duluth
- UMD competed at the Holst Invitational at Concordia University-St. Paul’s Sea Foam Stadium
- A select group competed in the 58th annual Mt. Sac Relay
Women’s Track
- Breanna Colbenson bettered the school’s 3,000-meter steeplechase finishing in 10:23.31
- Colenson automatically qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships
- Colbenson placed second out of 34 runners in the Long Beach State Invitational’ s 5,000-meter run competition with a time of 16:53.17
- Erica Kesseh, who was second in the 100-meter dash (12.17) and eighth in the 200-meter run (25.94)
Women’s Field
- Michaela Hesse turned in a second-place effort in the high jump at 5-03
- Elizabeth Brunner was second in the triple jump at 37-09.50
- The Bulldogs will be in Fargo, N.D., next Friday and Saturday for NDSU’s Lyle Hokanson Invitational
Minnesota State
Women’s Track
- Junior Haley Kruger ran the 800 in 2:11.94 at the Long Beach Invite in California, which is the 19th fastest time in Division II
Women’s Field
- Khadiya Hollingsworth placed first in the high jump at the Cal State LA Twilight with a leap of 5-8.75 which currently ranks second in Division II
MSU Moorhead
Women’s Track
- Alissa Mears finished fourth in her section of the 800 meters at Cal-State LA Twilight meet
- Mears ran a season-best of 2:15.77 to finish in 53rd overall out of 117 runners
- Mears’ time is fourth-fastest in the NSIC so far this season
Women’s Field:
- Caroline Jansen finished fifth in the long jump at the Cal-State LA Twilight meet on Thursday
- Jansen recorded a jump of 18-3 1/2, which is the sixth-best jump in the NSIC this season
- Jansen also finished sixth in the triple jump at 36-11
- Jansen ran a season-best of 14.92 in 100-meter hurdles at Beach Invitational on Saturday
- Next event for the Dragons is at Lyle Hokanson Classic at North Dakota State on April 23
Minot State
- Minot State had three event winners and five personal best at the Dickinson State Blue Hawk Games Thursday
Women’s Track
- Dijah Silva won two events, the women’s 200- and 400-meters, earning at PR in the 400 to move up to fourth all time at MSU
- Erin Winterton earned PRs in the 100 hurdles and 200 and was on the 4x100 relay team that took second
Women’s Field:
- Amber Hunsaker won for the fourth straight time in the javelin with a toss of 44.17-meters
- The Beavers travel to North Dakota State Friday and Saturday for the NDSU Bison Invitational
Northern State
- The Northern State University women’s track and field team competed at four meets across the country this past weekend
- Sasha Hovind, Dakotah Bullen, and Hanneke Oosterwegel traveled with a shorten squad to California, while the full team roster headed to the annual Sioux City Relays
Women’s Track
- Hovind and Oosterwegel led the way with a pair of school records in their respective events
- Hovind smashed her previous 10,000m school record while racing to an 11th place finish from the Mt. Sac Relays
- Hovind’s time of 35:00.35 was a national provisional mark
- Oosterwegel broke the school record in the 400m hurdles with a 1:01.37 time from the Long Beach Invitational as she ranked 12th nationally in the event
- Toni-Ann Ingram won the 100m dash with a time of 12.41 seconds, while the relay squad of Ingram, Elizabeth Raecke, Haili Wimer, and Andrea Korvela won the 1600 sprint medley relay with a time of 4:15.75
Women’s Field
- NSU tallied numerous top-5 finishes from the Sioux City Relays from Breann Jackson (hammer), Gena Burley (high jump), Toni-Ann Ingram (100m & 200m dash), Josie Ostermann (100m hurdles), Michaela Schlecht (javelin), and Trevez Bridgewater (javelin)
- The Wolves will return to competition this Friday from the NSU Twilight in Aberdeen
Sioux Falls
- Sioux Falls competed at the Sioux City Relays and took home two titles for the women
Women’s Track
- Tenley Schwartz won her second straight 5,000-meter run, clocking a 19:43.24, and was followed by Kiana Hein’s runner-up time of 19:51.40
Women’s Field
- Kimberly Peterson and Courtney Crandall both cleared 12-11 to finish first and second, respectively
- Both USF vaulters already own automatic qualifying marks and their marks from this weekend would rank fifth in Division II this season
- Haley Hinseth placed top-six in three events, finishing fifth in the shot put, sixth in the discus, and sixth in the javelin
- The Cougars head to Orange City, Iowa next weekend for the Red Raider Open on April 23
Southwest Minnesota State
Women’s Track
- Junior Hannah Palmeter set a meet and facility record at the Concordia-St. Paul Invite on Saturday with a winning time of 38:54.50 in the 10,000 meters as she won the race by nearly two minutes
- Palmeter was named All-NSIC and was the NSIC Newcomer of the Year in cross country during the 2015 season
St. Cloud State
- SCSU competed at the Holst Invitational over the weekend
Women’s Track
- Freshman Nicole Morpurgo won the 100m dash for SCSU at the meet with a 12.02
- Morpurgo’s time of 11.98 in the preliminaries allowed her to achieve NCAA outdoor provisional qualifying standards
Women’s Field
- SCSU was led at the meet by junior Patience Yalartai, who won both the triple jump and the long jump
- Yalartai’s triple jump mark of 39-08 set both the meet and the facility record and was a NCAA provisional mark
- Yalartai also won the long jump with a 5.67m/18’07.25.
- SCSU competes at the Lyle Hokanson Classic this weekend at North Dakota State University
Upper Iowa
- UIU competed at the Holst Invite in St. Paul, Minn.
Women’s Track
- Freshman Morgan Shearer was 19th in both the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:16.51 and the high jump with a leap of 1.45 meters
Women’s Field
- Shay Lierman placed 10th in the javelin a toss of 30.69 meters
- Lierman placed 18th in the shot put with a throw of 9.61 meters
- The next event for UIU will be the Dewey Allgood Invitational on Apr. 23 in Rolla, Mo., hosted by Missouri S&T
Wayne State
- Wayne State competed at the 52nd annual Sioux City Relays held at Olsen Stadium in Sioux City, Iowa
Women’s Track
- Andrea DeSimone won the 10,000 meter run with a time of 40:22.28
Women’s Field
- Kyndra Sturm posted a seventh place finish in the hammer throw at 160-7 at the Sioux City Relays
- The majority of the Wildcats will compete at the Doane College Relays in Crete on Friday and Saturday (April 22-23), while the throwers will compete at the NSU Open in Aberdeen, S.D. on Friday
Winona State
Women’s Track
- Megan Seidl won the 200 meters and the 400 meters while also anchoring the 4x100 to a win as well at Gustavus Adophus College’s Lee Krough Invitational this weekend
- Seidl’s 200m time of 24.53 is a meet and stadium record as well as NCAA II Provisional
- Seidl’s time of 56.71 in the 400m leads the NSIC
Women’s Field
- Andrea Bartz won the triple jump with a NCAA provisional mark and Lee Krough meet record of 38-6.75
