NSIC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Michael Sandle (Jumps, Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn. / Eden Prairie HS) - Minnesota State
- Broke the MSU record in the triple jump at the Mt. SAC Relays in California
- Leap of 52-8 won the event and is currently the top jump in Division II this season
- Jump surpassed the NCAA Championships automatically qualifying mark
- Broke Peter Pratts record at MSU, which was set back in 1976
- Was part of fourth place 4X100 meter relay team that finished in 41.19

Myles Hunter (Hurdles, Jr., Conyers, Ga. / Heritage HS) - Minnesota State
- Placed second in the 110m hurdles at the Beach Invitational in California
- Time of 13.60 ranks second in Division II and automatically qualifies him for nationals
- Tied his season best time
- Was part of fourth place 4X100 meter relay team that finished in 41.19
NSIC Team Notes
Augustana
- Competed at the Mt. SAC Relays, Sioux City Relays, Pacific Coast Invite, Bryan Clay Invitational and Long Beach State Invitational
Men’s Track
- Harald Karbo ran a provisional qualifier in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:01.36
Concordia-St. Paul
Men’s Track
- Tyler Naumowicz had a hand in three of the top-5 finishes as he took home second in the 400m hurdles, fifth in the 100m hurdles and helped the 4x400m relay team to a second place finish at the Holst Invitational
- Naumowicz wrapped up the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.65 seconds, the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.49 seconds
- Naumowicz joined up with David Stanley, Mohamed Malim and Vantwon Melton for a time of 3:18.35 in the 4x400m relay
Men’s Field
- David Zydowsky cleared 6-4 in the high jump to take fourth at the Holst Invitational
University of Mary
- The Marauders set one school record and posted two NCAA provisional qualifying times during the week
Men’s Track
· Chris Jessop set his fifth school record in the 10K, running the event in 31:30.37 at the Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday
Men’s Field
- Freshman Sam Mackedanz cleared the high jump bar in an NCAA provisional qualifying height of 6-8.75 at the Bryan Clay Invitational
- That is the top height in the NSIC this season
- William Kaigler posted a mark of 48-05.75 in the triple jump at the Bryan Clay Invitational
- The senior from Tracy, Calif., ranks 25th in the country and fourth in the NSIC
Minnesota Duluth
- UMD competed at the Holst Invitational at Concordia University-St. Paul’s Sea Foam Stadium
Men’s Track
- Blake Anderson established a meet record in the 10,000-meter run at the Holst Invitational
- Anderson posted a time of 33:07.67
Men’s Field
- Senior Kern Wilson was fourth in the hammer throw at 174-04
- Freshman Andrew Lind was eighth in the high jump at 6-0
- The Bulldogs will be in Fargo, N.D., next Friday and Saturday for NDSU’s Lyle Hokanson Invitational
MInnesota State
Men’s Track
- Junior Myles Hunter placed second in the 110m hurdles at the Beach Invitational in California

MSU Moorhead
Men’s Track
- Brady Speicher set a new school record in 1,500 at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday in Azusa, Calif.
- Speicher ran a personal record time of 3:44.63, which is an NCAA automatic qualifying time
- Speicher finished 19th out of 207 runners in that event
- Speicher also competed in the 800 meters at the Beach Invitational and ran a personal-best time of 1:52.70, which is the best in the NSIC so far this season
Men’s Field
- Brian Huber recorded an NCAA provisional jump of 24-8 1/4 at the Beach Invitational on Saturday
- Huber placed fifth out of 47 competitors in the event
- Huber’s jump is tied for fifth-best in the nation this season and is best in NSIC so far this spring
- Huber also competed at the Cal State LA Twilight on Thursday and finished eighth in the high jump at 6-2.75
- Next event for the Dragons is at Lyle Hokanson Classic at North Dakota State on April 23
Minot State
- Minot State had four personal bests and one event winner at the Dickinson State Blue Hawk Games Thursday
Men’s Track
- The men’s relay team of Daniel Daffinrud, Tyler Bates, Lucas Leitner and Ademiluyi Aderoluwa won the 4x100 relay in a time of 43.56 seconds
- Devan Shumway earned a personal best in the men’s 1,500-meters and finished 11th overall in the race
- Julio Romero also earned a PR in the 1,500 and finished just a place behind Shumway in 12th
Men’s Field:
- Tanner Gust earned a PR in the men’s hammer throw, finishing second in the event with a heave of 45.04-meters and was fifth in the discus
- The Beavers travel to North Dakota State Friday and Saturday for the NDSU Bison Invitational
Northern State
- The Northern State University men’s track and field team competed at four meets across the country this past weekend
- Devin Olson traveled with a shorten squad to California, while the full team roster headed to the annual Sioux City Relays
Men’s Track
- At the Sioux City Relays the Wolves notched top-5 finishes from Dylon Hollingsworth (400m hurdles), Itoitz Rodriguez (400m dash), and David Murphy (javelin)
Men’s Field
- Olson finished fourth in the javelin at the Cal State LA Twilight, with a 47.69m throw
- From the Sioux City Relays the Wolves notched top-5 finishes from Lucas Osowski (shot put), Zach Feil (triple jump), Deshonn Brown (high jump)
- The Wolves will return to competition this Friday from the NSU Twilight in Aberdeen
Sioux Falls
- Sioux Falls competed at the Sioux City Relays and took home two titles for the men
Men’s Track
- Steven Brown won the men’s 10,000-meter run, clocking a time of 32:37.70 and Matt Horan finished fourth
- Teddy Frid qualified fourth and finished sixth in the finals of the men’s 110-meter hurdles
Men’s Field
- Jagger Gran won the men’s pole vault and improved his provisional qualifying mark
- Gran captured the title with a 16-10.75 clearance, which ranks him fifth nationally
- Chase Jensen and Jacob Zebedee both cleared 15-11 to take second and third in the men’s pole vault
- The Cougars head to Orange City, Iowa next weekend for the Red Raider Open on April 23
Southwest Minnesota State
Men’s Track
- Will Hanson won the 110m hurdles at the Sioux City Relays on Saturday with a time of 14.67
- Hanson advanced to the finals following Friday¹s preliminaries with a time of 14.43, which ranked first among 33 hurdlers
- Placed fourth out of 32 in the javelin with a toss of 52.43m
Men’s Field
- Junior Alex Weis competed in three events at the Concordia-St. Paul Invite on Saturday
- Weis finished third, the highest among Division II athletes, out of 53 in the shot put with a toss of 16.06m
- Weis recorded a fifth place finish out of 63 in the hammer throw with a toss of 52.74m
- Weis placed seventh out of more than 60 competitors in the discus with a mark of 49.14m
St. Cloud State
- SCSU competed at the Holst Invitational over the weekend
Men’s Field
- Ryan Johnson won the men’s hammer with a toss of 190-01 at the Holst Invite
- The throw bettered his previous NCAA provisional qualifying mark and was his third hammer throw victory of the season
- Johnson also placed sixth in the discus 161-07
- Freshman Elijah Pitchford won the triple jump for the second time in as many meets with an NCAA provisional jump of 48-10.75
- Senior thrower Rafael Saez also achieved an NCAA provisional mark of 167-01 in finishing second in the discus
- SCSU competes at the Lyle Hokanson Classic this weekend at North Dakota State University
Wayne State
- Wayne State competed at the 52nd annual Sioux City Relays held at Olsen Stadium in Sioux City, Iowa
Men’s Track
- Braxton Adams recorded a first place finish in the 100 meter dash in 10.86 seconds
- Adams also ran the second leg on the 4x100 meter relay that placed 3rd overall
Men’s Field
- Brady Metz posted a first place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 45-1 and was fifth in the long jump at 21-9
- The majority of the Wildcats will compete at the Doane College Relays in Crete on Friday and Saturday (April 22-23), while the throwers will compete at the NSU Open in Aberdeen, SD on Friday
