NSIC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week:
Kimberly Peterson (So., Pole Vault, Elizabeth, Colo. / Elizabeth HS) - Sioux Falls

 - Automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships by clearing 4.00 meters (13-1.5) to win the women’s pole vault Minnesota State Multi & Open
 - Peterson’s mark currently ranks second in Division II and in the NSIC and set a new indoor personal-best
- Marks the second NSIC Field Athlete of the Week honor for Peterson this season (1/12/16)

NSIC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week:
Emilee Trost (So., Mid-Distance, Goodhue, Minn. / Cannon Falls HS) - Minnesota Duluth

- Placed first in the 19-runner mile race in a time of 4:52.76 at the Minnesota State Multi & Open
- Trost’s converted time of 4:49.89 is the second fastest time in NCAA DII this season and is a provisional qualifying time
- Trost also won the 1,000-meter run, clocking in at 2:56.57, the fastest time in the NSIC this season
- This marks the second time this season Trost has earned NSIC Track Athlete of the Week honors (12/8/15)

NSIC Team Notes
Augustana

Women’s Track
- Irene Almarcha finished in third in the women’s 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.87 at the Jim Emmerich Invitational
- Emma Anderson finished fifth in the mile with a time of 5:05.18 which is a personal best for Anderson
Women’s Field
- Calliann Brunswig finished third in the women’s long jump with a jump of 5.51 meters

Bemidji State
- BSU competed in two events Jan. 22-23. The Beavers’ multi-event athletes competed in the MSU Open and Multi, while the rest of the team participated in the Twin Ports Open
Women’s Track
- Nikki Anderson led Bemidji State to a pair of first-place finishes at the Twin Ports Invite in Superior, Wis., Jan. 23
- Anderson senior finished first in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best 9.51
- The Bemidji State 4x1,600-meter relay squad of Phillie Bacon, Jane Austin, Jolynne Denman and Courtney Anderson finished in first place with a time 24:57.43. The time is good for a school indoor record
- BSU’s distance medley relay team of Bacon, Madison Kealy, Sarone Paulzine and Nicole Crummy claimed first with a time of 14:46.42
Women’s Field
- Emeline Sivila broke the Bemidji State pentathlon record and finished second at the Minnesota State Open and Multi Jan. 22, logging a score of 3,212
- Her NCAA Championship provisionally-qualifying score was highlighted by a first-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.15 meters
- Sivila had a high-score of 836 points in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.36, a personal best
- Next weekend the Beavers are on the road again as they travel to Moorhead, Minn. to compete in the Cobber Duals on the campus of Concordia College

Concordia-St. Paul
Women’s Track
- Gloria Williams picked up a win in the 200m and was second in the 60m at the St. Thomas Invite on Friday night
- Williams won the 200m with a time of 26.49 seconds
- Williams fell just short with a time of 7.94 seconds in the 60m, taking second
Women’s Field
- Wakpor Ighovojah won the 60m hurdles and took second in the long jump at the UST Invite
- Ighovojah’s time of 9.24 seconds paced the field in the 60m hurdles
- Ighovojah cleared 17’2.25” to take second in the long jump

University of Mary
- The Marauders competed Saturday at the Jim Emmerich Invitational, hosted by NCAA Division I South Dakota State
Women’s Track
- Alexis Zeis won the 3,000 meter run in a provisional qualifying time of 9:35.93 at the Jim Emmerich Invitational hosted by South Dakota State
- Zeis set school, meet and facility records with her mark and ranks first in the NSIC and fourth in NCAA DII
- Sophomore Tonie-Ann Pandohie won the 60 meter hurdles in a provisional qualifying time of 8.73 seconds
- Senior Josie Guptill placed second in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:37.67
Women’s Field
- Senior Molly McDonald cleared the high jump crossbar at an NCAA provisional qualifying height of 5-5 to place seventh
- All-American Davina Carr placed third in the pole vault with an NCAA provisional qualifying height of 12’ 11.5”. Carr owns the top effort in NCAA D2 this season when she cleared 13’ 2.25” in the first meet of the year.
- U-Mary next competes at the Cobber Duals on January 30

Minnesota Duluth
- Sophomore Emilee Trost claimed two titles at the Minnesota State University-Mankato Open Saturday afternoon while her University of Minnesota Duluth teammate, senior Lydia Kingsley, was the lone Bulldog to win a crown at the Twin Ports Invitational in Superior, Wis., that same afternoon
Women’s Track
- Trost placed first in the 19-runner mile race in a time of 4:52.76 with the next three finishers being fellow Bulldogs -- junior Breanna Colbenson (5:00.69), senior Hannah Olson (5:03.64) and senior Erick Seidenkranz (5:20.32)
- Trost’s converted time of 4:49.89 is the second fastest time in NCAA DII this season and is a provisional qualifying time
- Trost also won the 1,000-meter run, clocking in at 2:56.57, the fastest time in the NSIC this season
Women’s Field
- Kingsley, who competed with a handful of Bulldogs at the University of Wisconsin-Superior Saturday, won the weight throw competition with a toss of 15.44 meters
- UMD will pay its third visit of the 2016 season to the University of Minnesota campus next Friday (Jan. 29) for the two-day Jack Johnson Classic.

Minnesota State
Women’s Track
- Altonice Williams, for the second week in a row, broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.55
- Williams holds the fourth fastest time in Division II and was a part of the winning 4x400-meter relay team
Women’s Field
- Faryn Wirkus placed second in the pole vault with a height of 3.85m, which is the fifth best vault of this season in division II

MSU Moorhead
Women’s Track
- Emily Mammenga had a big day for the Dragon women at SDSU Open, winning two events
- Mammenga won the mile in 5:11.87 and when adjusted for track size, is fifth-best time in the NSIC this season
- Mammenga also claimed the 1,000-meter run in 3:02.91
Women’s Field
- Caroline Jansen won the long jump at the SDSU D2 Open
- Jansen finished with a winning effort of 18-3 3/4, which is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and third-best in the NSIC this season
- Jansen’s 18-3 3/4 jump is best of collegiate career
- Jansen also finished second in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.30
- MSUM will compete at two meets this week, the Jack Johnson Classic at the University of Minnesota and the Cobber Duals at Concordia College
 
Minot State
- Minot State broke a 17 year old record and finished with seven personal bests at the South Dakota State DII Invite Friday
Women’s Track
- DelRay Audet broke the school record in the 60-hurdles, taking third overall in 9.34 seconds, topping a record set in 1999 by her former high school head coach Michelle Boyeff Hoff and was second in the 300 hurdles with a 46.52
- Emily Westlake earned PRs in both the mile (5:37.94, seventh place) and the 800 (2:37.39, 12th)
- Erica Clark finished fourth overall in the 800 with a personal best 2:23.46
Women’s Field
- Randii Widmer earned a personal best with a leap of 10.10 meters to finished second in the triple jump and went 4.54 meters in the long jump to finish eighth
- The Beavers will travel to Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., for the Cobber Duals Saturday

Northern State
- NSU traveled to the SDSU Division II Open last Friday and tallied numerous top ten finishes
- The Wolves recorded 15 total top ten finishes on the day to open 2016 with success
Women’s Track
- Sasha Hovind ran for the Wolves in the SDSU open placing third in the 3000m run
- Hovind’s time of 9:58.98 earned herself a national provisional qualifying mark and currently ranks 19th nationally
- Hovind also ran to a new school record, breaking her previous record of 9:59.55 set a season ago
Women’s Field
- Breann Jackson tallied a pair of victories over the weekend in the shot put and weight throw
- Jackson opened the day taking first in the shot with a throw of 12.94m
- Jackson then went on to take first with a throw of 18.05m in the weight
- Jackson’s shot mark is a career indoor best for the senior and just .06 off her outdoor best
- The Northern State track and field teams will continue competition next Saturday from the Concordia-College, Cobber Duals.

Sioux Falls
 - Sioux Falls returned to Mankato, Minn. for the MSU Multi & Open where they won two events and hit three qualifying marks
Women’s Track
- Jordin Kopplow won the women’s 5,000 meter run, her first collegiate victory with a time of 19:10.50
Women’s Field
 - Kimberly Peterson automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships by clearing 4.00 meters (13-1.5) to win the women’s pole vault
 - Peterson’s mark currently ranks second in Division II and in the NSIC and set a new indoor personal-best
 - Sophie Harano and Megan Muller finished third and fourth in the pole vault, respectively
 - Justine Zylstra competed in her first collegiate pentathlon, placing fourth with 3,072 points which has her third in the NSIC this season

Southwest Minnesota State
Women’s Track
- Kim Shabino finished first out of 26 runners in the 200 meter with a time of 25.73 at the South Dakota State D2 Open on Friday
- Shabino placed second in the 60 meters with a school record time of 7.92
Women’s Field
- Rylee Armstrong finished first out of six competitors in the high jump at the South Dakota State DII Open on Friday with a mark of 1.60m
- Armstrong also placed third in the long jump with a leap of 5.12m
 
St. Cloud State
- St. Cloud State competed at the MSU Open & Multi Events on Friday, Jan. 22, and Saturday, Jan. 23
- The women’s team won the long jump, triple jump and the pentathlon
Women’s Field:
- Patience Yalarati picked up two event wins over the weekend in the long jump (5.49m) and the triple jump (11.49)
- The long jump win was Yalartai’s third on the season and her triple jump win was her second on the campaign
- Natalie Gottschalk earned the victory in the pentathlon with 3,372 points
- Gottschalk finished sixth in the 60m hurdles (9.58), third in the high jump (1.56m), second in the shot put(10.35m), second in the long jump (5.12m) and second in the 8,000m (2:25.77)  
- SCSU will be competing at the Jack Johnson Invite this weekend on Jan. 29-30 at the University of Minnesota

Upper Iowa
- The Peacocks competed at the MSU Open & Multi, setting three new school records for the second straight week
Women’s Track
- Freshman Erica Kelly broke the final UIU record of the weekend as she finished the 60-meter dash in 8.55 seconds, breaking the record of 8.58 set in 2002
- For the second straight week, multiple runners broke the Upper Iowa 3000-meter record, with junior Bethani Jacobsen setting the school mark with a time of 11:54.17
Women’s Field
- Freshman Shay Lierman continued her assault on the UIU record book, setting a new pentathlon record score of 2652
- Upper Iowa will head to Wayne, Neb., next weekend for the Wildcat Open on Jan. 30
 
Wayne State
Women’s Track
- Molly Kingsley picked up a personal best mark of 19:15.88 to place third at the MSU Open in the 5,000 meter run
- Kingsle’s time was a personal best by over a minute and 30 seconds
- Kingsley currently ranks seventh in the event in the NSIC
Women’s Field
- Ellen Wulf placed second in the long jump with a mark of17-10.25, which was an indoor personal best mark for her
- Wulf currently ranks eighth in the NSIC in the event
- The Wildcats will host the Wildcat Open on Saturday, Jan. 30 with field events starting at 11:00 am and running events at 1:00 pm.
- Teams competing will include:  Augustana University, University of Sioux Falls, and Upper Iowa University

Winona State
WSU competed at the MSU Open this past weekend in Mankato, Minnesota
Women’s Track
- Jordan Paschke won the 3,000 meters at the MSU Open & Multi Friday night in a time of 10:14.93
- Paschke recorded her lifetime best in the event as well as the fifth best 3,000 meters in the NSIC this season
Women’s Field
- Ashley Thooft won the shot put at the MSU Open & Multi Saturday with a NSIC leading throw of 44-6.25 (13.57m) which is also a NCAA II provisional mark
