NSIC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week:
Brian Huber (Jumps, So., Staples, Minn. / Staples-Motley HS) - MSU Moorhead
- Huber won the long jump at the NDSU Bison Classic with a school indoor record leap of 24-11
- The leap automatically qualified Huber for the NCAA Championships
- He ranks second in NCAA Division II this season
- Also tied for second place in the high jump at the Bison Open with a jump of 6-6
- Marks the second time this season being named NSIC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week (12/8/15)
NSIC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Brady Speicher (Distance, Jr., Perham, Minn. / Perham HS) - MSU Moorhead
- Speicher won the mile at the Bison Classic with a time of 4:14.52
- Speicher’s time is ranked third-best in the nation after conversion for track size to 4:11.32
- His converted time was an full second under the NCAA provisional qualifying time of 4:12.43
- Speicher’s time is also best in the NSIC this season

Augustana
Men’s Track
- Zach Tuschen finished first in the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:58.02 at the Dakota Reality Alumni Meet
- Justin Greenway took second in the men’s 60m dash with a time of 7.02
Concordia-St. Paul
Men’s Track
- David Stanley picked up a pair of top-five finishes in the Minnesota Open on Saturday
- Stanley finished third in the 400m with a time of 51.04 seconds
- Stanley picked up a fifth place finish in the 200m with a time of 23.31 seconds
Men’s Field
- Josh Johanson finished third in the high jump with a height of 6’6.75” at the Minnesota Open
- Johanson helped the 4x400m relay team finish third with a time of 3:41.34
University of Mary
Men’s Field
- Freshman Luxon Glor led the Marauders efforts at the Bison Classic
- Glor was fifth in the in the triple jump (13.88 meters) and seventh in the long jump (6.67 meters)
- In the high jump, Joe Berger was fifth at 1.98 meters and Dustin Rueb was eighth
- Freshman Riley Miller placed fifth in the long jump with an effort of 6.78 meters
- The Marauders next compete at the Jim Emmerich Invitational in Brookings, S.D., on January 22.
Minnesota Duluth
- UMD competed at the Minnesota Open on the University of Minnesota campus
Men’s Track
- Josh Peterson captured first place in the 3,000-meter run as he finished with a time of 8:51.78
- The 4x400 relay team posted a winning time of 3:34.25 and consisted of Connor Behm, Garrett Benz, Frank Deluca and James Ryan
Men’s Field
- Jason Lilja finished second in the high jump at 6-8
- The Bulldogs will be in Superior, Wis., next Saturday to compete in the Twin Ports Open
MInnesota State
Men’s Track
- Austin Pasch won the mile run at the Minnesota Open (4:25.68) and also came in fourth in the 800-meter run (1:59.31)
Men’s Field
- Michael Sandle placed third in the triple jump at the Holiday Inn Invitational with a leap of 48-11.75, which qualifies him provisionally for nationals and is the fourth best triple jump this season in division II
MSU Moorhead
Men’s Track
- Brady Speicher won the mile at the Bison Classic with a time of 4:14.52
- Speicher’s time is ranked third-best in the nation (after conversion for track size) and also an NCAA provisional qualifying time
- Speicher’s time is also best in the NSIC this season
- Senior Kenny Andri won the 400-meter dash at the Bison Classic with a time of 49.77, which is third-best in the NSIC so far this year
Men’s Field
- Brian Huber won the long jump at the Bison Classic on Saturday with a school indoor record of 24-11
- Huber’s long jump of 24-11 is second-best in NCAA Division II
- Huber also tied for second in the high jump at 6-6
- The Dragons are set to compete at SDSU Open on Saturday in Brookings, South Dakota
Minot State
- Minot State started the 2016 Indoor Track & Field season with one individual champion and a pair of runners-up at the Bemidji State Super 8 Open Saturday
Men’s Track
- Tyler Bates ran to a pair of runner up finishes, taking second in the 400-meters with a time of 53.22 seconds and the 200 with a 23.44
- The Beavers 4x400-meter relay team of Chiti Nkhuwa, Julio Romero, Dylan Harvey and Daniel Daffinrud finished second overall with a time of 3:39.40
Men’s Field:
- Farai Madungwe earned the Beavers first championship with a leap of 45-1 to win the triple jump and was second in the long jump at 20-10.75
- Minot State travels to Brookings, S.D., to participate in the South Dakota State Jim Emmerich Invitational Saturday
Northern State
- NSU took a small squad to the NDSU Bison Classic this past Saturday
Men’s Track
- Luke Wietgrefe, Jacob Schweitzer, and Clay Danielson competed for the Wolves
- Wietgrefe placed sixth in the 400m dash and 20th in the 200m dash
- Schweitzer placed sixth in the 800m run, and was the top Division II finisher
- Danielson placed eight in the 3000m run and was also the top Division II finisher
- The Wolves will be back in action this Saturday from the SDSU Open
Southwest Minnesota State
Men’s Track
- Will Hanson won the 60 meter hurdles at the Bison Open as he crossed the line in a time of 8.13
Men’s Field
- Raphael Lawson-Gayle set the SMSU record in the long jump, finishing third with a mark of 6.96m (22-10)
- Lawson-Gayle broke Wayne Hawkins’ record of 22-0 which was set during the 1990 season
- Jordan Flinn set the record in the weight throw with a toss of 16.99m to finish in fourth place
- SMSU will return to action next Saturday at the SDSU Open in Brookings, South Dakota
Sioux Falls
- Sioux Falls competed at the Dakota Realty Alumni Open, hosted by University of Sioux Falls
Men’s Field
- The Cougars totaled five personal-bests in the throwing events, two by Derrick Sheppard on the men’s side
- Three men’s pole vaulters cleared 3.65 meters (15-3) to finish 5-6-7 and one centimeters shy of the provisional qualifying standard
- Sioux Falls returns to action at the MSU Multi & Open in Mankato, Minnesota on Jan. 22 and 23
St. Cloud State
- SCSU competed at the Minnesota Open on Jan. 16
Men’s Track
- J.T. Butler picked up his third 200m win of the season (22.19)
Men’s Field
- Keyshawn Davis won the long jump (7.03m) with an NCAA provisional jump
- Elijah Pitchford was the victor in the triple jump (14.30m) with an NCAA provisional jump, his second tirple jump win of the year
- Ryan Johnson placed third with an NCAA provisional throw in the weight throw (18.74m/61.05.75)
- SCSU will compete in the MSU Open / Multi at Mankato on Jan. 22-23
Wayne State
WSC competed at the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet hosted by the University of South Dakota held in the Dakota Dome in Vermillion, South Dakota.
Men’s Track
- Clay Kramper placed fourth in the 200 meter dash in 22.97 seconds
Men’s Field
- Brady Metz registered the lone first place finish for WSC, winning the triple jump at 46-0.5
- Metz also took fifth place in the long jump with a mark of 20-9
- Metz ranks fifth in the NSIC in the triple jump
- Wayne State returns to action next weekend traveling to Mankato, Minnesota for the Minnesota State Open on January 22-23
