NSIC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week:
Kimberly Peterson (Pole Vault, So., Elizabeth, Colo. / Elizabeth HS) - Sioux Falls

- Won the pole vault at the MSU Alumni Open with a vault of 12-7.5
- Her vault improved her NCAA provisional mark and ranks third in the NSIC
- Her vault ranks fourth currently in the NCAA Division II

NSIC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week:
Afure Adah (Sprints, Fr., Moorhead, Minn. / Fargo Shanley HS) - Minnesota State

- Placed first in the 200m dash with a time of 25.19 at the MSU Alumni Open
- Her converted time of 24:81 meets NCAA provisional qualifying standards
- Converted time ranks sixth in NCAA Division II and tops the NSIC currently

NSIC Team Notes
Augustana

- Augie was idle last week
- The Vikings will resume competition Saturday at the USD Open in Vermillion, S.D.

Bemidji State
- BSU was idle last week
- The Beavers are back in action this week when it hosts the Super 8 Open at BSU’s Gillett Recreation/Fitness Center

Concordia-St. Paul
Women’s Track
- Gloria Williams provided a bright spot in the Northwest Open as she wrapped up a pair of wins in the 60 meter dash and the 200 meter dash
- Williams’ time of 7.87 seconds in the 60m gave her the win in the event
- Williams’ 26.64 seconds in the 200m also took the top spot
Women’s Field
- Gretchen Feilen picked up a pair of top-5 finishes in the high jump and the pole vault in the Northwest Open
- Feilen cleared 4-9 in the high jump to finish second
- Feilen’s mark of 10-0.75  in the pole vault put her in third in the event

University of Mary
- The University of Mary was idle last week
- After over a month off since last competing, the University of Mary returns to action at the Bison Classic on Jan. 16, hosted by North Dakota State in Fargo, N.D.

Minnesota Duluth
- UMD ushered in 2016 Saturday by competing in the University of Minnesota Northwest Open where five Bulldogs, including a pair of freshmen, collared individual titles
Women’s Track
- Brittany Platt took top honors in the mile with a time of 5:23.24
- Megan Borowski was second in the mile at 5:25.24
- Chanel Miller (9.06 in the 60-meter hurdles) and Hannah Olson (2:23.26 in the 800-meter run) were the other two Bulldogs to claim a title Saturday
Women’s Field
- Micheala Hesse finished first in the high jump (1.60 meters)
- Alyssa Nebo topped the field in the long jump competition (5.37 meters).
- For Platt, Hesse and Nebo it was their second individual crowns in as many meets this indoor season
- The Bulldogs will return to the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 16 for the Minnesota Open

MInnesota State
MSU hosted the Minnesota State Alumni Open Saturday
Women’s Track
- Afure Adah placed first in the 200m dash with a time of 25.19
- Adah’s converted time of  24:81 meets NCAA provisional qualifying standards
- Sophomore Karlona Gregory took home first in the 60m with a time of 7.91
- Bobbi Patrick won the 600m with a time of 1:37.22
- Freshman Megan Serratore won the 1-mile event with a time of 5:19.62
- Placing first in the 3000m was senior Samantha Soupir (10:59.93)
- MSU also won the 4x400-meter relay (4:00.68)
- Next action for MSU is the Northwest Open at the University of Minnesota January 17

MSU Moorhead
- The Dragons were idle last week
- MSUM returns to action on Jan. 16 at the Bison Classic in Fargo, N.D.
 
Minot State
- MISU was idle last week
- The Beavers open their indoor season on Jan. 16 at the Bemidji State Super 8 Open

Northern State
- NSU was idle last week
- The Wolves will resume competition Saturday the 22nd at the SDSU Open

Sioux Falls
- Sioux Falls returned to action at the MSU Alumni Open where they won five events and recorded three provisional marks
Women’s Track
- Keegan Day captured the women’s 1,000-meter title
Women’s Field
- Kimberly Peterson won the women’s pole vault and improved her provisional mark to 3.85 meters (12-7.50) which ranks fourth in D2 currently
- Sophie Harano was runner up with a 3.70-meter (12-1.5) clearance
- Megan Muller was fourth at 3.55 meters (11-7.75), both provisional marks that ranks eighth and 16th, respectively, in the nation
- Amber Cook led a three-Cougar charge in the women’s triple jump, with USF sweeping the top three places
- USF is back on the short circuit this weekend at the Dakota Realty Alumni Open in Vermillion, S.D.

Southwest Minnesota State
Women’s Track
- Kim Shabino placed fourth in the 200 meter dash at 26.22 at the Minnesota State Alumni Open
- Savannah Ramirez finished fourth in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:22.56
Women’s Field
- Rylee Armstrong set a personal best in the long jump with a mark of 5.31m to place fourth at the Minnesota State Alumni Open
- Armstrong also finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.09m
- Rhiannon Sears recorded a personal best in the weight throw at 13.31m to finish eighth
- SMSU returns to action on Saturday at the North Dakota State Open

St. Cloud State
- SCSU traveled to the Northwest Open at the University of Minnesota
Women’s Track
- SCSU swept the 400m dash with Jasmine Grant winning first (1:01.59), junior Kristen Wendt taking second (1:03.73) and sophomore Emily Yeager earning third (1:03.95)
- Grant, Wendt and Yeager teamed up with Hannah Yeager to win the 4x400 relay in a time of 4:15.75
- Junior Sam Sunstrom earned a victory in the 3,000m (10:22.28)
Women’s Field:
- Junior Patience Yalartai won the triple jump with a NCAA provisional distance of 11.72m (38-5.5)
- Cassie Cardinal provisionally qualified in the shot put with a heave of 43-8
- SCSU is back in action at the Minnesota Open on Jan. 16 in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Upper Iowa
- Upper Iowa was idle last week
- The Peacocks open up their schedule on Saturday, Jan. 16 at the UNI Panther Open in Cedar Falls, Iowa

Wayne State
- Wayne State was idle last week.
- The Wildcat’s season resumes on Saturday, January 16th at the South Dakota Alumni Track and Field Meet in the Dakota Dome starting at 11 a.m.

Winona State
- The Warriors were idle last week
- WSU returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 16 at the St. Mary’s Opener in Winona, Minnesota
