NSIC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week:
Jeff DeCock (Jumps, Fr., Lambert, Minn. / Westbrook-Walnut Grove HS) - Minnesota State
- Finished second in the high jump event with a jump of 7-1 at the Minnesota State Alumni Open
- The jump was high enough to earn him an NCAA provisional qualifying mark
- DeCock’s mark of 7-1 in the high jump is the fourth best indoor mark in MSU history
- Earned

- DeCock’s jump of 7-1 is currently the highest mark in NCAA Division II
- Only three NCAA DII men jumped higher than 7-1 during the entire indoor season a year ago
NSIC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week:
Myles Hunter (Hurdles, Jr., Conyers, Ga. / Heritage HS) - Minnesota State
- Won the 60-meter hurdles event with a time of 7.83 at the Minnesota State Alumni Open
- Shaved .03 off his NCAA automatic qualifying time from Chuck Peterson Open in December
- Currently ranks first in Division II in the 60-meter hurdles event
- Marks the second time this season being named NSIC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week (12/8/15)
NSIC Team Notes
Augustana
- Augie was idle last week
- The Vikings will resume competition Saturday at the USD Open in Vermillion, S.D.
Concordia-St. Paul
Men’s Track
- Tyler Naumowicz picked up two top-5 finishes in a field featuring DI athletes at the Northwest Open at the U of M
- Naumowicz finished fourth with a time of 8.57 seconds in the 60m hurdles
- Naumowicz helped rack up a time of 3:27.82 and a fourth place finish in the 4x400m relay
University of Mary
- The University of Mary was idle last week
- After over a month off since last competing, the University of Mary returns to action at the Bison Classic on Jan. 16, hosted by North Dakota State in Fargo, N.D.
Minnesota Duluth
- UMD ushered in 2016 Saturday by competing in the University of Minnesota Northwest Open
Men’s Track
- Brian Lee was fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 54-10.25
- Ben Hanson took sixth in the 800-meter run (1:59.17, an indoor collegiate best)
- Cody Sedbrook clocked a life-time best 8:44.94 in the 3,000-meters
Men’s Field
- James Ryan was fifth in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 21-03.5
- The Bulldogs will return to the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 16 for the Minnesota Open
MInnesota State
MSU hosted the Minnesota State Alumni Open Saturday
Men’s Track
- Myles Hunter won the 60-meter hurdles event with a time of 7.83, where he received an NCAA automatic qualifying mark
- Hunter currently ranks first in Division II in the 60-meter hurdles event
- MSU runners accounted for the top-6 finishes in the 200-meter dash, with Kyran Stewart turning in the top finish of 21.51 (an NCAA provisional qualifying mark)
- John Schster and Reid Diamond took the top two spots in the 400-meter dash with times of 49.78 and 49.91
Men’s Field
- Jeff DeCock finished in second place in the high jump event with a jump of 7-1 to earn an NCAA provisional qualifying mark
- DeCock’s mark of 7-1 in the high jump is the fourth best indoor mark in MSU history
- DeCock’s jump of 7-1 is currently the highest mark in NCAA Division II
- Sophomore Alex Campbell provisionally qualified for the triple jump event as he won the event at the MSU Alumni Open with a jump 47-3.75
- Next action for Minnesota State is the Northwest Open at the University of Minnesota January 17
MSU Moorhead
- The Dragons were idle last week
- MSUM returns to action on Jan. 16 at the Bison Classic in Fargo, N.D.
Minot State
- MISU was idle last week
- The Beavers open their indoor season on Jan. 16 at the Bemidji State Super 8 Open
Northern State
- NSU was idle last week
- The Wolves will resume competition Saturday the 22nd at the SDSU Open
Southwest Minnesota State
Men’s Track
- Will Hanson also had a strong meet placing second in the 60 meter hurdles with a NCAA provisional time of 8.14
Men’s Field:
- Alex Weis placed fourth in the weight throw with a school record toss of 16.26m at the Minnesota State Alumni Open on Saturday
- Weis also finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 14.72m
- SMSU returns to action on Saturday at the North Dakota State Open
Sioux Falls
- Sioux Falls returned to action at the MSU Alumni Open where they won five events and recorded three provisional marks
Men’s Track
- Matthew Horan won the men’s mile
- Trey Ferguson captured the men’s 600-meter run
- USF is back on the short circuit this weekend at the Dakota Realty Alumni Open in Vermillion, S.D.
St. Cloud State
- SCSU traveled to the Northwest Open at the University of Minnesota
Men’s Track
- J.T. Butler won the 200m dash (22.23) and placed second in the 60m (6.96)
Men’s Field
- Ryan Johnson won his second straight indoor weight toss (18.53m)
- Keyshawn Davis took home the title in the long jump (6.85m).
- SCSU is back in action at the Minnesota Open on Jan. 16 in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Wayne State
- Wayne State was idle last week.
- The Wildcat’s season resumes on Saturday, January 16th at the South Dakota Alumni Track and Field Meet in the Dakota Dome starting at 11 a.m.
