NSU Defeats CU 68-57 in NSIC/Sanford Health Tourney Quarterfinals

– Northern State earned their spot in the NSIC/Sanford Health Men's Basketball Semifinal tomorrow night, with a 68-57 victory over Concordia-St. Paul. The Wolves will face off against No. 1 seed Augustana in the 8 p.m., night cap, from the Sanford Pentagon.
 
The Wolves were tested in the first half by the Golden Bears, falling behind just seven minutes in. Concordia's largest lead of the half, eight points, came with under two minutes remaining. Tydan Storrusten and Skye Warwick connected for two quick baskets to end the half and bring NSU within three.
 
Northern entered the half quickly taking the lead, and literally running away with it. NSU scored 43 points in the second, to Concordia's 29 led by Tydan Storrusten with 11. Storrusten tallied 13 points in the game, while adding two rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
 
Senior Seth Bachand led NSU in the game with 17 points, nine rebounds, and a career high matching five blocks. Bachand was one of four players in double-digits, as DJ Pollard and Skye Warwick each tallied ten in the game. Mitch White matched Seth, with nine rebounds and added six points.
 
Darin Peterka came off the bench to tallying eight points, two rebounds, two steals, and three assists. Also off the bench were Spencer Pankonin and Michael Schreiber with two points apiece.
 
Northern's fiery second half saw the Wolves shooting 61.9 percent from the floor and 50 percent from the arch. For the game, NSU was 45.1 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from the three-point line. The difference maker for NSU was the 18 forced CU turnovers, for 17 Wolves points.
