MANKATO, Minn. – Augustana junior Bree Woelber (Pipestone, Minn./Pipestone Area) won the NSIC Pentathlon as the 2014-15 NSIC/ US Bank Indoor Track & Field Championship got underway on Sunday from Myers Field House in Mankato, Minn. Woelber automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships and set a school record as she finished with 3,892 points, just 18 shy of the NSIC record set by Heather Miller (SCSU) in 2010. Woelber's point total ranks as the third-best score in Division II in this season.
In all, the top six finishers in the pentathlon all set NCAA provisional marks in the competition.
Woelber set an NSIC indoor record in winning the high jump with a leap of 5' 9.25", best the leap of 5'8 set by Jodi Swenson (UMD) in 1991. Woelber also took the long jump with a lunge of 18' 2.25" and won the shot put with a heave of 38' 8.25". Woelber clocked a time of 8.98 in the 60-meter hurdles to start the day and closed out competition in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.14.
The NSIC/US Bank Indoor Track & Field Championships will continue on Thurs.-Fri., February 26-27 in Mankato, Minn.
