NSIC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week:
Brian Huber (Jumps, So., Staples, Minn. / Staples-Motley HS) - MSU Moorhead
- Won the long jump at the Dakota Classic hosted by NDSU
- Hit an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 23-6.25
- His jump of 23-6.25 is fourth-best in Division II so far this season
- Finished second in the high jump at 6-4 in his indoor debut for 2015-16
NSIC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week:
Myles Hunter (Hurdles, Jr., Conyers, Ga. / Heritage HS) - Minnesota State
- Won the 60-hurdles at the Chuck Petersen Open in Mankato on Saturday
- His winning time of 7.86 was fast enough to automatically qualify him for the national meet
- His run was one tenth of a second faster than all other Division II competition this season
NSIC Team Notes
Augustana
Men’s Track
- Ryan Heuer finished in first in the men’s 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.22 at the SDSU Holiday Open, setting an NCAA provisional qualifying mark
- Heuer finished fifth in the 300-meters hurdles with a time of 40.09
- Keegan Carda hit an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 5000m at the GVSU Holiday Open
- Josh Barrows took first-place in the men’s 600 meters with a time of 1:21.41 at the SDSU Holiday Open
Concordia-St. Paul
Men’s Track
- Mohamed Malim won the 600m run at the Chuck Petersen Open with a time of 1:25.40
- Malim helped the 4x400m relay team finish second with a time of 3:30.23
Men’s Field
- Josh Johanson cleared 6’6.75” in the high jump, good for third in the Chuck Petersen Open
- Johnson took part in CSP’s 4x400m relay team that finished seventh with a time of 3:49.30
University of Mary
Men’s Field:
- Senior jumper William Kaigler captured the triple jump title at the Dakota Classic with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 47’ 5.25”
- Freshman Luxon Glor placed second in three different events: 60 meter dash (7:04 seconds), 200 meter dash (23.09) and triple jump (14.02 meters). He was third in the long jump (6.82 meters)
- Freshman Riley Miller placed second in the long jump with a mark of 7.00 meters
- Senior Joe Berger cleared the high jump bar at 1.93 meters, tying for the second-best effort of the day, but was slotted third in the standings
- U-Mary next competes at the Bison Classic on Jan. 16 in Fargo, North Dakota
Minnesota Duluth
Men’s Field
- Junior Jason Lilja was UMD’s lone double-winner, taking top honors in both the high jump 6-9 and long jump 22-6.25
- Lilja’s effort in the high jump was a St. Scholastica facility record, and it was also an NCAA provisional qualifying mark
- Lilja is currently ranked 6th in the nation in the high jump (first in the NSIC), and third in the NSIC in the long jump
MInnesota State
Men’s Track
- Myles Hunter won the 60-hurdles at the Chuck Petersen Open in Mankato on Saturday
- Hunter’s winning time of 7.86 was fast enough to automatically qualify him for the national meet

- Frank Veldman hit 6-8.75 in the high jump at the Chuck Petersen Open in Mankato on Saturday
- The height was second best in the NSIC this season and eighth best in the nation
MSU Moorhead
- The Dragons sent a partial lineup to Dakota Classic at NDSU on Dec. 4 and recorded four top 3 finishes
Men’s Track
- Kenny Andri won the 600 meters at the Dakota Classic in 1:23.32
- Andri’s time was fastest of his career in the event
Men’s Field
- Brian Huber won the long jump at the Dakota Classic hosted by NDSU with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 23-6 1/4
- Huber’s long jump of 23-6.25 is fourth-best in Division II
- Huber also finished second in the high jump at 6-4 in his indoor debut for 2015-16
- MSUM is off until Jan. 16 when it competes at the NDSU Bison Classic in Fargo, N.D.
Minot State
The Beavers open their indoor season on Jan. 16 at the Bemidji State Super 8 Open
Northern State
- The Northern State University men’s indoor track team posted a solid day from the SDSU Holiday Open
Men’s Track
- Zac Bartolomeo placed fifth in the 800m run, crossing the line at 2:01.40
Men’s Field
- TJ Hochstetler was the top finisher for the men, winning the heptathlon with a total score of 4,247 points
- Hochstetler won both the long jump and 60m hurdles to capture the crown
- Jake Olson was the top thrower for the men, taking ninth in the weight throw with a mark of 15.49m
- Jacob Wiedrich led the field events finishing fifth in the pole vault, with a mark of 4.25m
- Up next for the Wolves is the SDSU Open, January 22nd from Brookings
Southwest Minnesota State
Men’s Track
- Junior Chris Kveseth broke the school record in the 600 meters with a time of 1:21.81 to finish in second place at the SDSU Open on Saturday
Men’s Field:
- Sophomore Will Rose placed 10th out of 22 in the shot put with a personal best toss of 14.03m at the SDSU Open on Saturday
Sioux Falls
- Sioux Falls Track & Field opened the 2015-16 indoor season at the MSU-Chuck Petersen Open
Men’s Track
- Travis Diunius edged teammate and fellow freshman Tyler Slaba to take the 1,000-meter title
- Teddy Frid took fourth in men’s 60-meter hurdles, narrowly missing a provisional mark and placed sixth in the high jump
Men’s Field
- Xavier Scarlett won the long jump and placed fifth in the 60-meter dash
- Chase Jensen and Jacob Zebedee tied for third in the pole vault and their 4.60-meter (15 feet-1 inch) clearances were equaled by freshmen Christian Mueller and Tristan Zawadzki
- The Cougars will be idle until they return to Mankato, Minn. for the MSU Alumni Open on Jan. 9
St. Cloud State
Men’s Field
- Ryan Johnson won the men’s weight throw at the South Dakota State Holiday Classic with a throw of 62-5.25
- Johnson placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 14.68m
Wayne State
Men’s Track
- Braxton Adams placed 4th in the 60 meter dash in a time of 6.94 seconds at the SDSU Holiday Open
- His time currently ties him for the lead the NSIC in the event and was just .04 off the NCAA provisional qualifying mark
Men’s Field:
- Bryan Dunn placed 2nd in the weight throw with a mark of 60-6.5 which is an NCAA provisional mark
- The mark currently ranks eighth in the DII National Rankings and is the second best throw all-time in the event at WSC
