Rochester, Minn. - The NSIC Swimming and Diving Championship completed day two of four in Rochester. Lindenwood opned up their lead over St. Cloud State in the team standings following the second day. Action will continue Sauturday with swimming preliminaries to begin at 10 a.m., diving to take place at noon, and a swimming finals session to kick off at 6:30 p.m. The championship's final session will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

MINNESOTA STATE
The Minnesota State women's swimming and diving team finished in the top-four in four different events at day two of the NSIC Championships Friday. Junior
Ivanna Smirnova took third place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.46, while senior
Rachel Rubatt took 10th with a time of 1:00.29. Freshman
Shelby Sechena finished in fourth place in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:32.34, while senior
Nicole Bennett took 12th place with a time of 4:50.41. Junior
Tessa Cady also took 12th place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.22. The MSU 400-yard medley relay team of junior

Nicole Bean took third place with a time of 3:55.62. The team of Green, Bean, Cady and Smirnova also took third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay event with a time of 1:36.30.
MSU MOORHEAD
ROCHESTER, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's swimming and diving team set three records during Day 2 of the NSIC Championships, which are being held in Rochester, Minn. The Dragons are in third place after two days of competition, four points ahead of fourth-place Minnesota State, Mankato.Sophomore
Annika Bordak set two school records on the day, while MSUM's 200 freestyle relay also set a school record. Bordak followed her school record time in the prelims with another school record in the 200 free. She placed fourth at 1:55.20. She led over the first 100 after swimming a split of 54.88 and ended in fourth after a hotly-contested battle. Earlier in the day, she swam a time of 1:55.65 that set a school record. Freshman
Kelly Engbring was 14th with a lifetime-best time of 1:57.93 while sophomore
Rachel Erickson added a 15th-place finish at 2:00.15. MSUM's 200 free relay set a school record at 1:36.49. That consists of sophomore

Megan Rieland. That relay was the most competitive race of the night as there were just 0.19 seconds between second and fourth place. The Dragons' 400 medley relay was fourth at 3:57.40. That consisted of Bordak, Woods, junior
Susie Kitzman and Erickson. Woods had a lifetime-best breaststroke split of 1:04.98. Two other Dragons also had lifetime-best breaststroke splits as part of their relay teams: junior
Megan Sanford (1:08.48) and senior
Kelli Nadeau (1:05.58). Sanford swam a lifetime-best of 4:48.32 to place 10th in the 400 IM, while
Jackie Woods was 11th at 4:49.58. Both swam lifetime bests in the prelims in the morning as well. Kitzman was sixth in the 100 butterfly at 58.94; earlier in the day in the prelims, she swam the fourth-ranked time in MSUM history at 58.45. Sophomore
Kaitlyn McKinney's excellent week continued with an eighth-place finish at 59.95 while Rieland was ninth at 1:00.29; both moved up a position from their prelim swims. Junior

Rachel Erickson swam the seventh-fastest time in school history and a lifetime best at 1:58.42, while senior
Laura Goll added a lifetime-best of 1:58.96, which was eighth-fastest all-time in school history, while freshman
Kelly Engbring's lifetime best of 1:59.00 was ninth all-time. Also swimming lifetime-bests in the 200 free prelims were freshmen

LINDENWOOD
The Lindenwood women's swimming and diving program continued to collect titles during day two of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championships in Rochester, Minn. The Lady Lions have won five of the nine titles run so far at the event. The race for the team title has turned into a two-team battle between Lindenwood and St. Cloud State. After day two, the Lady Lions have 673 points and they have opened up a 50-point lead over St. Cloud State.
Alecia McGillivray has won two individual titles at the competition with victories in the 1000 free and 400 IM events. Other individual titles have come from
Bethany Steffes in the 200 free and
Audra Thornton in the 200 IM. Lindenwood has won one relay event, the 200 free relay. Ten Lady Lions have earned all-conference honors. The swimmers earning that award are:
Storrie Cramer,
Niki Dahl, McGillivray, MacKenzie Porter, Steffes, Thornton,
Kyleigh Troxel,
Maike Tweesman,
Hannah Vinyard, and
Jocelyn Woo. Lindenwood started the final session of day two out right by winning the first two events. The 200 free relay was up first and the team of Dahl, Thornton, Porter, and Steffes won in a time of 1:36.06, just 0.24 seconds ahead of St. Cloud State. In the first individual race of the evening, McGillivray won her second title by finishing first in the 400 IM with a mark of 4:27.33. Also in the top final flight was Thornton who finished third (4:31.83), and Troxel who finished sixth (4:40.29). Other Lady Lions to score were
Kelsey Hutton in seventh-place and Aly Coleman in 13th. Lindenwood had two swimmers in the top finals of the 100 fly. Tweesmann came in fourth with a time of 57.61 and Woo was fifth with a time of 58.18. The Lady Lions' final title of the night came in the 200 free where Steffes won with a time of 1:54.43. Vinyard was fifth in the race with a mark of 1:55.79. Other Lindenwood swimmers to score were Kirchner in seventh, Gallego in eighth, Rembisz in 10th, and
Morgan Connors in 13th. In the final event of the night, the 400 medley relay team captured a second-place finish. The squad of Woo, Cramer, Tweesmann, and Steffes had a time of 3:54.53.
NEBRASKA-KEARNEY
The Nebraska-Kearney women's swimming team has scored 186 points to sit in fifth place after the first two days of the NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) Championships in Rochester, Minn.
On Friday, UNK broke the school record in the 200 free relay by turning in a 1:39.74, good for fifth place and 38 team points. The previous top time was 1:41.52. The record breaking four some consisted of sophomores
Zhu Zhu Lundin Daniels (Dodge City, Kans.)
Alexandra Prochaska (Ralston) and
Skylar Tatreau (Tekamah) and senior
Cassie Bonds (Wichita, Kans.). Bonds (11th/1:00.61) and Daniels (13th/1:01.80) also cracked the top 15 in the 100 fly, scoring a combined 17 points for the Aqualopers. Next, Daniels and Prochaska were part of the sixth place 400 medley team (4:13.44). Bonds led UNK on
Thursday as she came in 14th in the 50 free (25.15) and swam the third leg for the 200 medley relay team that finished sixth (1:54.44). Finally, while she didn't make the event finals, Tatreau's 2:00.58 in the 200 free prelims is the third best in school history and just off the record pace set by
Michelle Reutter (2:00.03) last February.
NORTHERN STATE
After two days of tough competition, the Northern State University swim team sits pretty at the NSIC Championships. The squad has compiled four school records thus far, along with seven top ten finishes in the two days. The night began with the 200 freestyle relay team of
Katherine Springer,
Ashley LaFave, Rhodes and Peterson recorded a sixth place finish coming in at 1:40.54. Also placing 11
th in the event was the relay squad of
Hannah Mastel,
Abby Ottenbacher,
Kamie Wagar and Iverson.
Samantha Gunning was back in her usual form in the 400 individual medley with an eighth place, school record breaking time of 4:41.56. Waiflein also performed well in the event hitting the wall in 16
th. Gunning went on to place seventh in the 100 butterfly just shy of her school record at 58.44. In the final individual event of the night, Rhodes continued to shine placing 11
th overall in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.78.
Amanda Taylor brought home the final school record of the day for NSU with her 100 backstroke spilt time of 58.52. Taylor was a member of the 400 medley relay team of Gunning, Jacob and LaFave. The squad garnered a fifth place finish with their team time of 4:02.99.
ST. CLOUD STATE
Meghan Carmichael (Stoughton, Wis.) became a conference champion in the 100-yard fly. Carmichael won the event with a time of 56.78. The 400-yard medley relay team earned a conference title, posting a time of 3:47.77. The relay was made up of
Erin Hart,
Abby Rasmussen,
Meghan Carmichael and
Kelsey Leeson. The relay team broke the previous held school record in this event.
