NSIC / US Bank Men’s Cross Country Individual Champion

Bobby Brockmueller, who became the school’s first-ever individual NSIC cross country champion, led the University of Sioux Falls men’s squad to a second place finish at the NSIC/U.S. Bank Cross Country Championships in Wayne, Neb. Brockmueller clocked a 25:11.17 to win the men’s 8K title.  Overall, the Cougars men’s team, which finished in the runner-up spot for the second straight season, placed five runners in the top 17 and finished with 46 points.

NSIC Team Notes
Augustana
Augustana won its sixth straight NSIC / US Bank Men’s Cross Country Championship as the Vikings scored 22 teams points after placing five runners in the top seven.  Leading the way for the Vikings was Harald Karbo, who placed second overall in the 8,000-meter race with a time of 25:15.23. Adam Braun placed third with a time of 25:15.80 and TJ Gleason delivered a fourth-place finish clocking a time of 25:17.26.  Keegan Carda delivered a sixth-place finish with a time of 25:26.51 and was followed closely behind by John Klecker, who placed seventh, clocking a time of 25:26.83.

Concordia-St. Paul
The Concordia-St. Paul took home a 12th place finish at the NSIC Championships.  Nic Rudolph finished as the top finisher for CU in 38th place while setting a course record for the team at the Wayne Country Club.

University of Mary
Three University of Mary runners placed in the top 36 at the Northern Sun men’s cross country championships and the Marauders finished seventh overall. Sophomore Thomas Neale led the Marauders efforts for the fourth straight race, placing 27th overall. The native of Billings, Mont., ran the 8K course at the Wayne Country Club in a time of 26:34.56. Derek Myers, a freshman, and Steven Gordon, a sophomore, placed 33rd and 36th, respectively. Myers was clocked in 26:47.83 and Gordon ran a 26:51.17. Freshman Kevin Carpenter placed 46th and senior Nathan Inkman was 84th overall. The Marauders next return to the Wayne Country Club in Wayne, Neb., for the NCAA Central Region championships on Nov. 22.

Minnesota Duluth
The Bulldogs took fifth place as a team at the NSIC/US Bank Championships. Junior Mitch Fisher was the Bulldogs’ top finisher, placing 24th among 109 individuals with an 8K time of 26:29.94. Three freshmen -- Grant Pulver (30th; 26:43.82), Cody Sedbrook (32nd; 26:44.83) and Blake Anderson (36th; 26:48.97) -- were next while junior Drew Johnson (39th; 26:52.57) was UMD’s other point getter. Rookies Josh Peterson (40th; 26:56.62) and Henry Jessen (27:04.84) rounded out the top seven placers. Sioux Falls senior Robert Brockmeuller captured the individual title with a time of 25:11.17.

Minnesota State
Minnesota State placed fourth at the 2014 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championship meet held in Wayne, Neb. Senior Josiah Swanson clocked in at 25:57.08 to finish 13th as the top individual for the Mavericks. Senior Ryan Ness (26:16.08) was 17th, junior Matt Longen (26:18.76) placed 18th, senior Matt Stocker (26:21.43) finished 19th, sophomore Ryan Erdman (26:32.47) placed 24th,sophomore Brandon Gessner (26:59.84) was 42nd, freshman Connor Westlake (27:07.33) was 47th, freshman Edoardo Tagliaferri (27:07.61) placed 52nd, junior Brennan Holman (27:17.35) was 55th and freshman Michael Hoff (28:35.33) was 90th.

MSU Moorhead
Spencer Ruebke (Sr., Ada, Minn./Ada-Borup HS) earned All-NSIC first-team honors at NSIC Championships as he finished in 10th with an 8K time of 25:37.48. He helped lead MSUM to a third-place finish.

Northern State
Clay Danielson was the top finisher for NSU at the NSIC Championships as he ran an 8K time of 26:58.91 and placed 44th. Thomas Horgeshimer was next for the Wolves, finishing 62nd and running a time of 27:34.06 as NSU finished 11th as a team.

Sioux Falls

Southwest Minnesota State
 The Southwest Minnesota State University men’s cross country team recorded 266 points and finished ninth out of 12 teams at the NSIC/US Bank Championships held at Wayne Country Club. Alejandro Sanchez led SMSU with a 21st place finish with a time of 26:24. Blake Wooten crossed the finish line with a time of 27:36 to earn a 64th place finish, while Alex Bloomquist recorded a time of 27:47 to cross in 71st place.

St. Cloud State
The St. Cloud State University men’s cross country team charted an eighth place finish at the 2014 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championships on Saturday, Nov. 8.  The Huskies chalked up 252 points at the meet.  The Huskies were paced at the meet by rookie T.J. Schiltz with a 50th place time of 27:06.86 on the 8K course at the Wayne Country Club in Wayne, Neb.  Teammate Johnathan Hess placed 53rd at 27:12.17 and SCSU’s Chris Caron placed 54th at 27:15.58.  Sebastian Sowada added a 58th place finish at 27:22.99 and John Simila placed 65th at 27:37.12 in the field of 109 runners. The remainder of SCSU’s contingent at the conference meet included Mathew Massmann at 27:40.18 (67th), Paul Greenwood at 27:47.03 (70th), Rashad Harris at 28:11.36 (81st) and Cameron Smith at 28:14.98 (83rd).

Wayne State
Nick Fly  (Jr., Omaha, Neb./ Omaha North HS), was the top Wildcat finisher at Saturday’s NSIC Championships in Wayne, placing 57th from a field of 109 runners with a time of 27:19.  Fly helped WSC to a 10th place team finish with 304 points.

Winona State
The Winona State men’s cross country team ran to a sixth-place finish at the NSIC Championship on Saturday in Wayne. The Warriors finished sixth out of 12 teams in the championship as WSU had four runners finish the race in the top 40 out of the 109 runners in the meet. WSU was paced by senior Billy Eifert, completing his last run in the NSIC Championship in 28th place with a time of 26:35.15. Junior Nick Couillard was the second Warrior to cross the finish line in 31st place with a time of 26:44.81. Freshman Reed Parent completed his run in 35th place with a time of 26:50.73 and junior Shane Carlson finished in 37th with a time of 26:51.30.

NSIC Cross Country Championship
The NCAA Regional will take place on Saturday, November 22 again in Wayne, Neb. The NCAA DII National Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, December 6 at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. in conjunction  with the NCAA Fall Sports Festival.
