Cadena scored three goals and added an assist as the Mustangs went 2-0 with a 5-1 win over SCSU and a 2-1 OT win at UMD. Cadena tied the SMSU career scoring record with her goal at Minnesota Duluth and now stands at 28 total career goals. SMSU defeated Minnesota Duluth for the first time in school history at James S. Malosky Stadium and just the second time in program history.

Dehkes recorded a 2-0 record in goal as the Mustangs defeated SCSU 5-1 and UMD 2-1 in overtime. She amassed 16 saves on the weekend, including 12 against UMD. She also faced 13 corner kicks over the weekend as the Mustangs improved to 5-2 in the NSIC.

Erickson led a Maverick defense that posted a pair of shutout over MSU Moorhead and Northern State. She played in 170 minutes and a key role for a defense that allowed only four shots, one of which was on goal and zero corner kicks in their two wins as the Mavericks have produced eight shutouts this season and are off to their best start in program history at 10-0-0.

No. 2 Minnesota State is off to its best start in school history with a mark of 10-0-0. The Mavericks defeated MSU Moorhead 4-0 before shutting out Northern State 1-0. The Mavericks have produced 8 shutouts on the year and have given up just two goals all season. Sophomore Kiana Nickel and senior Emily Moris are tied for the league lead with seven assists while junior Korey Kronforst is tied for the league lead in goals with nine.

Additional note: MSUM has played six of its first nine games at home, and will return home this weekend for a pair of home games against Winona State and Upper Iowa. After that MSUM will play five of its final six games on the road.

- Minot State had an opportunity this weekend to continue to climb the rankings in the top half of the NSIC this weekend but were unable to do so with two losses. The Beavers fell to Winona State in their first game of the weekend by a score of 1-0. The following Sunday, Minot State dropped a close one against Upper Iowa after the Beavers led 1-0 at the half.
- Despite taking two losses on the weekend, #0 Celene Johnson (GK, 5-6, Jr., Rocklin, Calif./Cimarron-Memorial) made a combined 18 saves in the two games for the Beavers. Johnson made her fourth and fifth starts for Minot State this weekend.
- #2 Taylor Bachman-Williams (D, 5-6, Sr., Minot, N.D./Minot) recorded her team-leading third goal of the season in the Beavers 2-1 setback against Upper Iowa Sunday afternoon. Bachman-Williams leads the Beavers in points this season as well with six, two points ahead of second place.
- The Beavers are allowing just .80 goals per game so far this season, good for the fourth-best ratio in the Northern Sun. The team is still looking to create a bit more going forward, though, as they are only averaging 1.0 goal per game.
- Minot State will be tested this upcoming weekend when No. 2 ranked Minnesota State travels to take on the Beavers at Herb Parker Stadium on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Beavers will close the weekend on Sunday with a match against Concordia-St. Paul.

Brittany Tietz recorded a career high 12 saves in a loss to MSU, a team that averages 3.12 goals per game. Tietz held the Mavericks to one goal, scored mid-way through the first period. The day before she shutout CU, marking her second of the season.

An amped-up offensive attack netted the Cougars their first win and nearly saw an upset of Minnesota Duluth. USF took six shots, all on goal, and Cheyanne Carpenter turned away 11 shots by UMD, but the Bulldogs snuck a shot past the USF defense for a 1-0 win. On Sunday, Elisa Martinez scored two goals to give the Cougars their first lead of the season and Jackie Montes halted St. Cloud State’s comeback effort with an 88th-minute goal, propelling USF to their first win of the seaosn.

- The St. Cloud State soccer team lost a pair of NSIC games on Oct. 4-5. The Huskies opened the weekend at Husky Stadium with a 5-1 loss to Southwest Minnesota State on Oct. 4. The weekend was concluded with a 3-2 setback against Sioux Falls in St. Cloud.
- SCSU’s Ally Herod charted her first goal of the season in the Huskies’ game against SMSU on Oct. 4.
- SCSU rookie Kate Fearing added her first collegiate goal during the Huskies’ match against USF on Oct. 5.
- Naomi Kolhoff posted her first goal of the 2014 season against Sioux Falls. The goal was Kolhoff’s fifth career goal with the Huskies.
- The Huskies will return to the road next weekend with game on Oct. 11 at Augustana and an Oct. 12 date at Wayne State.

The Winona State soccer team picked up a few home wins this weekend. They won a 1-0 thriller Friday night against Minot State where the Warriors scored the winning goal in the 88th minute and then went on to beat Mary in a high scoring game, pulling away with a 3-2 win.
This week, Winona State (9-1, 6-1 NSIC) travels to Minnesota State Moorhead (2-7, 1-6 NSIC) on Saturday and then Northern State (4-6, 3-4 NSIC) on Sunday.
The Warriors are 18-6 all-time against MSUM, winning 18 straight dating back to 1998. Winona State holds a 15-3-1 record all-time against Northern State and have won the last six meetings dating back to 2008.
