NSIC Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week
Adam Braun  (Senior, Shoreview, Minn. / Totino-Grace HS)
Augustana College


Adam Braun led Augustana for the second time this season finishing 13th overall after recording a time of 24:49 on the 8,000-meter course at the UW-Oshkosh AAE Invitational ran at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wis. The Vikings captured fourth place out of 45 schools competing at the event.  This marks the second time this season Braun has earned NSIC Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors (9/30/14).

NSIC Team Notes
Augustana
No.8 Vikings tallied 154 points as they captured fourth-place honors at the UW-Oshkosh AAE Invitational ran at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wis. Adam Braun led Augustana for the second time this season finishing 13th overall after recording a time of 24:49 in the 8,000-meter course.

Concordia-St. Paul
The Golden Bears were idle last week.
Up Next: Oct. 24 at the St. Cloud State Bob Waxlax Invitational at the Wapicada Golf Course in Sauk Rapids, Minn.

University of Mary
U-Mary was idle last week.
Up Next: University of Mary hosts the Mike Thorson Invitational on Oct. 24 at the Riverwood Golf Course in Bismarck, N.D. This marks the first time the Marauders have hosted a meet since 2010 as four teams are expected to compete.  A youth race will be run  between the men’s and women’s race while the Marauders pep band and cheer team are expected to perform at the race with National Guard providing volunteers at the finish line.

Minnesota Duluth
UMD placed 22nd as a team at the 45-school at the UW-Oshkosh AAE Invitational ran at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wis.  Rookies Blake Anderson (121st; 26:14) and Grant Pulver (132nd; 26:20) were the first two Bulldogs across the finish line, followed by three juniors -- Mitch Fisher (144th; 26:29),  Drew Johnson (151st; 26:34), and Joey Erickson (160th; 26:41). Three more freshmen, Cody Sedbrook (162nd; 26:42), Josh Peterson (173rd; 26:50), and Alex Naughton (26:57) rounded out the top eight.

Minnesota State
Minnesota State placed ninth with 272 points at the Jim Drews Invitational held in La Crosse, Wis., Saturday.Senior Ryan Ness (26:04) finished 34th as the top individual for the Mavericks. Junior Matt Longen (26:14) placed 39th, senior Josiah Swanson (26:26) finished 50th,  freshman Connor Westlake (26:34) was 61st, sophomore Ryan Erdman (26:46) placed 88th, sophomore Brandon Gessner (27:02) was 10th and freshman Edoardo Tagliaferri (28:32) placed 113th.

MSU Moorhead
The Dragons were idle last week.

Northern State
The Wolves were idle last week.

Sioux Falls

Southwest Minnesota State
The Mustangs were idle last week.

St. Cloud State
The Huskies returned to action on Oct. 18 with a trip to the Drews/Neubauer Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.  SCSU placed 17th as a team at the event with 476 points. Chris Caron led the Huskies in LaCrosse with a 65th place time of 26:35 on the 8K course.  T.J. Schiltz placed 69th with a time of 26:37 and Rashad Harris placed 102nd with a time of 26:56.
Up Next: The Huskies will host the Bob Waxlax Invitational on Friday, Oct. 24.  The race will take place at the Wapicada Golf Course in nearby Sauk Rapids, Minn.  The men’s race will begin at 5 p.m.  Team scheduled to compete at the meet include Minnesota Duluth, Southwest Minnesota State, Minnesota State, Concordia-St. Paul and Bemidji State. The Bob Waxlax Invitational is named in honor of the former SCSU cross country and track coach Bob Waxlax.

Wayne State
The Wildcats were idle last week.

Winona State
The Winona State men’s cross country team finished its final regular season run in the Drews-Neubauer Invitational at the Ettrick Golf Club on Saturday. The Warriors finished 13th out of 27 teams in the meet. WSU’s top finisher was Shane Carlson, completing the race in 26:29.12 to finish 59th in the meet, while Max Gonzalez crossed the finish line at the 26:36.47 mark to finish 73rd.

NSIC Cross Country Championship
NSIC Cross Country teams will compete in various meets throughout the fall with the season culminating in Wayne, Neb. on Saturday, November 8 at the NSIC / US Bank Cross Country Championships.  The NCAA Regional will take place two weeks later on Saturday, November 22 again in Wayne, Neb. The NCAA DII National Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, December 6 at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. in conjunction  with the NCAA Fall Sports Festival.
