Marshall, Minn. - Southwest Minnesota State rolled up 530 yards of total offense and forced four Minot State turnovers to earn a 37-21 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory on Friday night in Marshall. SMSU improves to 2-1 in the NSIC, while MISU drops to 1-2. SMSU's
Tyler Tonderum, who leads NCAA II in rushing, racked up 135 yards and three touchdowns on 29 attempts to pace the Mustang offense.
Charlie Kern completed 21 of 29 pass attempts for 250 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 43 yards on 13 carries.
Jordan Cross led SMSU receiving corps with a career-high seven receptions for 78 yards and one touchdown.

Zach Osborn accounted for four touchdowns as Wayne State racked up 459 yards of total offense in a 41-25 Northern Sun Conference football victory Saturday afternoon over Minnesota Crookston at Ed Widseth Field in Crookston, Minnesota. The Wildcats improve to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in the NSIC while the host Golden Eagles remain winless at 0-3 and 0-3 in league play. After punting on their first possession, Wayne State then scored on the next four possessions of the first half and built a comfortable 28-0 lead late in the second quarter. The first Wildcat score came with 5:48 to play in the first quarter on a four yard pass from Osborn to freshman tight end

Sioux Falls, S.D. - Augustana bounced back from a week two loss in a big way shutting out Bemidji State 24-0 on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Falls. The Vikings (2-1) held the Beavers (1-2) to just 94 yards of total offense in the first half and 208 for the game. The shutout for Augustana is the first since the Vikings defeated Minnesota Crookston 61-0 on Sept. 15, 2012. The Vikings have shutout Bemidji State twice in the last three meetings, the last coming in a 10-0 win on Sept. 11, 2010 in Bemidji, Minn.

Aberdeen, S.D. - The Peacock football team overcame turnovers and a special teams touchdown allowed to earn a come-from-behind NSIC victory on the road. UIU trailed 17-16 with less than two minutes to play when the Peacock defense forced a fumble as the Wolves looked to run out the clock. A few plays later and with 31 seconds on the clock, Chris Smith scampered into the endzone to give the Peacocks the lead. After a two-point conversion to Lucas Hefty, UIU had a 24-17 lead. The defense forced a turnover on downs to end the game and improve UIU's record to 2-1. Upper Iowa has now won its last three games against Northern State, altough the teams haven't met since 2009.

Jack Nelson threw for 322 yards and four touchdowns as the Winona State football team rolled to 639 total yards in a 65-21 victory over MSU Moorhead Saturday in Verizon Wireless Stadium. The Warriors broke open a close game in the third quarter, scoring the final 41 points of the contest to cruise to the victory. Nelson was strong in his second career start, completing 19-of-27 passes for 322 yards and four scores. His 322 yards on the game are good for the 21st-best total in school history.

Bismarck, N.D. -
Vince Ferrante scored the winning touchdown with 4:41 left in the game as the University of Mary defeated the University of Sioux Falls 17-10.
Craig Bagnell passed for 323 yards and the Marauders held the ball for over 35 minutes. Defensively U-Mary limited USF to 313 total yards and forced three turnovers in the game. With their second straight win, U-Mary improves to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the Northern Sun. Sioux Falls drops to 1-2 and 1-2. U-Mary next plays at Upper Iowa University on Sept. 28.

No. 23 St. Cloud State University is off to a 3-0 start for the first time since the 2007 season as the #23/#24 Husky football team defeated #25 Concordia-St. Paul 34-3 Saturday night in St. Paul. The game featured two undefeated Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) teams and the Golden Bears drop to 2-1 overall. The Huskies rolled up 437 yards of total offense, including 243 in the air and held the Golden Bears to 206 yards of offense and 85 on the ground. St. Cloud State scored on five of six first half drives and led 21-0 at the end of the first quarter and took a 31-0 shutout into halftime. SCSU Recap | CU Recap
No.2 Minnesota State (3-0, 0-0 South) at No. 7 Minnesota Duluth (2-1, 0-0 North) - 6 p.m.
MSU 21, UMD 17
Duluth, Minn. - It went down to the wire between #2 Minnesota State and #7 Minnesota Duluth Saturday evening in Malosky Stadium, but it would be the Mavericks that would hold their ground as they came away with the 21-17 win. With the win, MSU improves to 3-0 on the season, while UMD falls to 2-1. In front of the fourth largest home crowd in Minnesota Duluth's history (5,723), the Mavericks won their third straight game behind some solid defense down the stretch, including a crucial redzone stand during the final seconds of the fourth quarter.
