MINNETONKA, Minn. - Augustana won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament crown for the second-straight season with a 5-1 victory over Winona State Sunday. The Vikings earned their win by recording two doubles victories before notching three-straight singles wins.
Augustana improves to 18-3. WSU drops to 13-3.
Katie Jesperson and Michelle Wadas paired together at No. 1 doubles to move their win streak to four by defeating Erin Kappers and Leah Dahl 8-6.
Hannah Gebauer and Heather Sullivan recorded their 20th win of the season with an 8-6 victory over Jessica Urban and Laura Lindstrand at No. 2.
WSU’s Laura Roesslein and Leah Koehler stole the only doubles point from the Vikings with an 8-4 victory at No. 3. The duo defeated Augustana's Adrienne Conley and Gabrielle Kachena.
The Vikings made quick work of the Warriors in singles action as Gebauer knocked off Lindstrand 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot.
Wadas kept the momentum moving in favor of Augustana, topping Dahl 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2.
Jenna Helleberg kept her perfect 12-0 singles record intact with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 against WSU's Andrea Krueger.
Augustana will receive an automatic bid to the Central Region Tournament which begins on April 29. The Vikings' first-round pairing will be announced on NCAA.com during a selection show on Tuesday evening.
