NSIC Swimmer of The Week
Stephanie Crandall (Senior,Woodbury, Minn. /Hill-Murray HS)
St. Cloud State

Stephanie Crandall set a new school record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.94 at the Rochester Invite. It was the fastest time in the NSIC and the sixth fastest in the nation this season. She also set B-cut times as a member of the Women’s 400 Medley Relay (3:52.07), the 50 free (24.08) and as a member of the women’s 200 free relay (1:35.21).


NSIC Diver of the Week
Tori Raihle (So., Spring Lake Park, Minn. / Spring Lake Park HS)

Tori Raihle finished in first place in both the one-meter and three-meter dives at the Rochester Mid-Season Invite. She won the three-meter dive with a score of 435.05, a national qualifying score and the one-meter with a score of 414.75.

Swimming & Diving Performances Last Week
Minnesota State senior Nicole Blum (Diamond Bar, Calif.) had a busy program at the Rochester Invite this past weekend.  Blum finished second in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:02.26, seventh in the 500-yard freestyle (5:16.69), 12th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.21) and 24th in the 100-yard fly (1:04.33).  Blum also set a school record in the 500-yard freestyle prelims when she finished in 5:08.07.  Additionally she was a member of two second-place relay teams as the 200-yard freestyle relay touched in 1:37.38 and the 400-yard freestyle relay finished in 3:30.96.    The 400-yard freestyle time was good for a new school record.
Minnesota State established two school records this past weekend at the Rochester Invite…MSU was second in the 400-yard freestyle with a time of 3:30.96, which was a school record while senior Nicole Blum set a school record in the 500-yard freestyle prelims with a time of 5:08.07…Additionally several individual bests were met this weekend…MSU travels to MSU Moorhead this weekend for its last meet before the holiday break.

MSU Moorhead’s Freshman Jackie Woods had an outstanding meet. She swam a personal-best of 1:05.61 in the 100 breaststroke prelims -- the 10th-fastest time in Division II and a new school freshman record. That broke the mark set by Ann Gusewelle, who swam the previous record time of 1:06.32 at the D2 National Meet. Woods was third in the 100 breaststroke in the finals. She took third in the 200 breaststroke at 2:28.11; her prelim time of 2:27.51 was a lifetime best. She added a fourth in the 200 IM at 2:13.52, nearly a second faster than her preliminary time and also a lifetime best.
Shayna Dugger (Jr., Detroit Lakes, Minn. / Detroit Lakes HS) had a successful diving weekend for MSUM at the Rochester Invite. She took third in the 1-meter diving with a score of 364.80 and was fourth in the three-meter diving with a score of 387.15.

Northern State’s Samantha Gunning (So., West Fargo, N.D./West Fargo HS) turned in an iron-man like effort for the Wolves at the Rochester Invite last weekend.  The sophomore set new personal standards and was a top-8 finisher in every individual race she swam, including a fourth place finish in the 200-yard butterfly and a fifth place showing in the 400 IM.  She also finished seventh in both the 200 IM and the 100-yard butterfly and swam legs on three NSU relays.

SCSU had a successful weekend in Rochester at the Rochester Mid-Season Invite. The women’s squad ended up finishing in first place with 1655 total points through 40 events. The St. Cloud State women won 14 of the 20 events. 15 B-cut times were recorded for the women. The following new school records were also set: Stephanie Crandall (Woodbury) set a school record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.94 and Kellyn Craig (Denver, Colo.) set a new record in the 200 breaststroke, swimming it in 2:17.70. Diver, Tori Raihle (Spring Lake Park) had quite the outing as well. St. Cloud State will return to action this Friday, Dec. 7 as they travel to St. John’s University where action will begin at 6 p.m.

Lindenwood ‘s Audra Thornton (Fr., Hudsonville, Mich. / Hudsonville HS) broke two school records last weekend at the Mizzou Invitational. She set the new standards in the 100 free with a time of 53.81 and the 200 free with a mark of 1:54.18. She also helped Lindenwood score points in four relays at the NCAA Division I competition.
The Lindenwood swimming and diving teams are off until after the holidays. The Lady Lions competed in the Mizzou Invitational last week which included six NCAA Division I swimming teams and two NCAA Division II programs. Lindenwood scored 58 points at the three-day meet and came in eighth. Alysa Coleman had the highest individual finish for the Lady Lions by coming in 22nd in the 200 breaststroke. Other top-25 finishes were Bailey Strom in the 200 backstroke and Storrie Cramer in the 100 breaststroke. Four of Lindenwood’s five relays scored in the competition, including a 14th-place finish for the 800 free relay team.

Truman State was idle last week. The will next compete at William Jewell on December 18.

Nebraska-Kearney Aqualopers scored 463 points to place fifth out of eight schools at the Mutual of Omaha Invite at UNO this past weekend. Among non-Division I schools, UNK had the second highest point total. 
Freshman Skylar Tatreau (Tekamah, Neb.) paced UNK as she swam the opening leg on three free relay teams that had the top time among non D1 schools; 200 (1:40.63), 400 (3:46.27) and 800 (8:32.44).

William Jewell’s Maggie Metz (So., Topeka, Kan.) helped lead the Cards to a second place finish at the Grinnell Pioneer Classic on Friday and Saturday.  She set school and meet records while winning the 500 Free (5:07.37 – NCAA B Cut) and the 200 IM (2:10.28) and the 200 Fly (2:08.74). She was also a part of the 200 Free Relay, the 200 & 400 Medley Relay, the 400 IM (4:33.10) and the 800 Free Relay (1:54.84 – NCAA B Cut).
