NCAA Men's Golf Super Regional
May 4-6, 2009 | Final Result 
Lincoln, Neb.--The NSIC had four men's golf team complete at the NCAA Division II Central/West Regional at the Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb. After posting back-to-back 303's, Upper Iowa entered the final round in a tie for ninth place. Upper Iowa saved their best for last as they turned in a 297 over the final eighteen holes to move up to eighth place. Upper Iowa placed second among the ten Central Region teams after entering the weekend as the #8 seed in the region and the #17 seed overall at the tournament. The Peacocks found themselves just 15 strokes away from a ticket to the NCAA Championships. Grand Canyon University, who opened the final day tied with UIU, shot a 282 to claim fifth place and the final invitation to the NCAA Championships.
St. Cloud State come in tied for 15th place, Bemidji State was 18th and Minnesota State 20th.
The NSIC's top finisher wasWinona State's Brady Strangstalien, who finished in a tie for ninth in the final standings. He finished off his three-day, 72-hole, competition with a three-over par74 on the par 71 course. That effort was added to the 75 Strangstalien shot on the opening day and the 68 he carded on the second day of the event for a total of 217, nine strokes off the pace. Ind Results

2009 NCAA DII MEN’S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS REGIONALS ANNOUNCED
INDIANAPOLIS---Eighty teams and 32 individuals have been selected to participate in the regional competition of the 2009 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championships. Regional competitions will be conducted May 4-6. The sites and teams selected to participate are listed below. The four regional tournaments encompass the current eight regions. The top five teams and the top two individuals not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 19-22 at Loomis Trail Golf Club in Blaine, Washington. Adam Winans earned medalist honors at the RMAC Championships. Winans shot an even par 216 (70-70-76) over three rounds at the Sundance Golf Club in Buckeye, Arizona. Winans led a field of 75 golfers and finished two strokes ahead of the runner up from Regis Univeristy. The Peacock senior entered the final round today at -4 over the first 36-holes. The Peacock senior also led the field in par 3 scoring with a 2.75 average and tied for 2nd in par 4 scoring with a 4.13 average; he ran home the most birdies (13) of anyone on the course.

Wells was the top golfer in the third tournament of the NSIC Championships. Wells shot rounds of 71 and 70 to finish witha one under (-1) 141 to win the weekend rounds by one stroke over Mitch Mackedanz of Bemidji State. Wells earned NSIC All-Conference honors as he finished with 283 points in the NSIC Championships, good enough for fourth place.

Minnesota State Wins Team Championship

Lake City, Minn. - The third and final tournament to decide the 2008-09 NSIC Men’s Golf Championship took place this Friday and Saturday, April 10-11 at the Jewel Golf Course in Lake City, Minn. In the end, Minnesota State was crowned 2008-09 NSIC Men's Golf Team Championship as they won the tie-breaker (Total strokes in the three conference tournaments) over Bemidji State. Both teams accumulated 58 team points.
Mitch Mackedanz of Bemidji State won the individual medalist honors as he accumulated 300 points, including the high mark of 108 in the final rounds this weekend. Adam Winans of Upper Iowa (292) finished second, while Brady Strangstalien (285) of Winona State finished in third. The top ten finishers were named NSIC All-Conference.
Points were awarded to determine the Conference Champion. Points were awarded in the following manner: 1st place 22 points, 2nd place 20 points, 3rd place 18 points, 4th place 16 points, 5th place 14 points, 6th place 12 points, 7th place 10 points, 8th place 8 points, 9th place 6 points, 10th place 4 points, and 11 place 2 points. For all team ties for the weekend, the points will be totaled and then split evenly among the tied teams. Points Results

Lake City, Minn. - The third and final tournament to decide the 2008-09 NSIC Men’s Golf Championship takes place this Friday and Saturday, April 10-11 at the Jewel Golf Course in Lake City, Minn. St, Cloud State leads the team standings on day one with a 290, followed by Concordia St. Paul at 293.
A total of 126 holes will be used to determine the 2008-09 NSIC Men’s Golf
Champions. After the first two tournaments St. Cloud State and Minnesota State are tied for the lead with 42
points. After each tournament points are award for where each team finishes multiplied by two. Danny Anderson
of St. Cloud State was atop the leader board for individuals. Anderson has accumulated 210 points over the
first two tournaments, a three point lead over Jesse Nelson of Bemidji State (207). Points will be tabluated tomorrow following the final round of play. Team by Team Results

Mitch Mackedanz captured first place at the Upper Iowa Spring Invite Sunday at the Finkbine Golf Course, a par-72, 7,027-yard course in Iowa City, Iowa. Mackedanz fired a three-over-par, 73 on the first 18 holes Saturday going into the club house tied four fourth, four strokes off the lead. He came out Sunday and shot a one-over-par, 73, four strokes better than his nearest competitor to take a four-stroke victory for his first event title this spring leading the Beavers to a team title.

Beau Anderson led the field from start to finish at the Concordia University Fall Invitational played Sunday and Monday at Tartan Park Golf Club in Lake Elmo, MInn. Anderson finished with a two under par 142 with rounds of 70 and 72. This marks the second week in a row that Beau Anderson has been named NSIC Golfer of the Week.
The St. Cloud State men’s golf team captured first, second, and third place in the individual standings enroute to winning the Concordia University Fall Invitational played Sunday and Monday at Tartan Park Golf Club in Lake Elmo. The Huskies posted a 294-290 for a team score of 584, eight over par, outdistancing themselves from second place by 23 strokes. First year golfer Beau Anderson (Cottage Grove) was the medalist and senior teammate Danny Anderson (Willmar) finished second followed by first year Dustin Delmonico (Lakeville) in third place.

Hill, in just the third event of his collegiate career, captured first place at the Express Suites Riverport Inn Classic Monday at The Bridges Golf Club, a par-71, 6,760-yard course in Winona, Minn. Hill, who competed in the event as an individual, fired a one-under-par, 70 on the first 18 holes Sunday to take a day one lead. His 71 (E) Monday was enough to hold off the field and take a one-stroke victory and the first event title of his collegiate career.

James Foss completed the opening week of the 2008 fall schedule under par and paced the Bemidji State men’s golf team to a pair of second place finishes. Foss tied for medalist honors Friday with a three-under-par, 69 at the Cobber Invitational leading BSU to a team score of 294 (+6), nine shots behind the event champion North Dakota State. He capped the week of play with a second place finish at the BSU Invitational. The Roseau native carded a 71-69=140 (-4) to finish the 36-hole event in second as one of only three players under par. The Beavers posted a team score of 586 (+10) and finished 10 shots off the lead and completed the weekend unbeaten by a single NSIC institution.
