2000 NSIC Men's Golfer of the Year

2000 NSIC Men's Golf Coach of the
Year Don Niskanen, Bemidji State
Marshall, Minn. -- With five golfers
in the top 10, Bemidji State University won the 2000
Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men's Golf
Championship. It is the Beavers' fourth straight NSIC
Championship. Top medalist was Dan Wenner of Winona
State who carded a two-day total of 146.
The Beavers shot a 604 under cold, snowy
and blustery conditions. Winona State took second
place, 17 shots back at 621.
Wayne State shot a 311 Saturday and
finished in third place with an overall score of 640.
Minnesota-Crookston shot a 658, while Northern State
and Minnesota-Morris rounded out the two-day event,
held at the Marshall Golf Club in Marshall, Minn.
Both teams carded a 675.
Individually, Wenner was named NSIC
Golfer of the Year with his first place finish. Bemidji
State Head Coach Don Niskanen received the Coach of
the Year award.
Runner-up honors went to Tom Jenkins
and Tom Downs of Bemidji State, who each shot a 149.
Rich Kortum of Wayne State shot a 150 and placed fourth.
Kevin Krigbaum of Bemidji State was
fifth with a 153. In sixth place was Travis Quam of
Bemidji State and Matt Loga of Winona State. Both
carded a 155. Paul Martin of Minnesota-Morris and
Joe Dietsch of Winona State finished in eighth place
with a 36-hole score of 156. Jay Ross of Bemidji State
rounded out the Top 10 with a 159.
